My Focus...

Please dont. Nothing worse than an ST lookalike, theres far too many already (plus your turning circle will be greatly reduced, just ask any ST driver).

Nothing wrong with a set of ST multispokes on a Focus - ST or not. Best wheel for the Focus, looks awesome.

Yeah, spot on Fox :) Fully Agree.
I'm not a fan of anything less than about 12 spokes on alloys, but the ST170 wheels are very desirable anyway imo.

Can I sneak a quick question in here, tyre and alloy related? [I'm looking for a Focus myself as my dad wont insure me on his, and will be looking for the ST alloys myself...]

Can you fit a bigger profile tyre to any alloy, or are some alloys only compatible with some profiles for safety etc?
My dads 04' 1.8 LX has 60 profile tyres on the standard 15" LX wheels, which is great as because they're nice and chunky, they dont pick up any potholes.
Could I have fitted 55 or 60 profile tyres to 16" wheels, even if they came with some 40's or 45's? Obviously with them being re-weighted etc, would that be safe, fine and possible, as just never thought about it like that?

Thanks,

Pedro.

I wouldn't have thought that you could fit a bigger profile tyre to the larger wheels

It might rub against the wheel arch and it'll put your speedo out

For the ST alloys you need 215/45/17, then for the 16" Zetec alloys you need 205/50/16. Then the rest are just the standard 195/55(60 on later models)/15.

No, they'd fit. I mean from a weight/safety kinna point of view and the fit in terms of the wheels onto the tyres.

Yeah, thats the only thing I wondered, but how would it affect the speedo? As I said, my dads Focus came with 15" 55 profile tyres, and the ride is perfectly smooth :) Anything below 50, in all the cars ive driven in, it seems to feel everything on the road.

Have to disagree there, Toyo T1-Rs are the WORST tyres ive used on my car! My mate also had them on his car and said they were crap. Never ever gonna use Toyos again. Avon ZZ3s are very good tyres, excellent grip in the wet to.

see this is where things get confusing... my brother rates the zz3's as complete crap. hes into his tyres (being a manager of a tyre fitting company)
