So my Mad Catz R.A.T 7 gaming mouse no longer appears to work correctly on my machine and I would like a replacement.

I guess I have a budget of around £70 - £80 but I'm looking for one which you can change the size of. I find most mice are too small so I'd like one that can be changed. Same goes for weight I like my mice heavy so I always put the maximum weight in them.

As for DPI I'm not that fussed. Max of 6400 DPI would be fine as long as you can change the DPI setting with a simple button push on the mouse.

Any advice or recommendations?

g402 or g502 if you want a good sensor.

Yeah but with the problems with the feet I would not recommend it to a friend. Otherwise they both are excellent.
Mionix Naos 7000

If ergonomics is the target I think Mionix Naos 7000 is the way to go.
Using a Corsair M65 here and I cannot fault it. Superb mouse and well built with plenty of configuration options!

But a laser sensor with acceleration. I think the M45 is a better buy.

What is the exact problem with the your current Rat 7?

Have you my any chance change the USB port the mouse is plugged into? I have a problem where my RAT 7 will only work in the port it was first plugged into and drivers installed.

If I plug it elsewhere the mouse does not light up!!!! I tried a fresh instal of OS and the same problem existed. The mouse first plugged in and worked fine (differeny port this time) but stopped working when I change USB port.

Cheers

The mouse works sometimes but occasionally it stops working for some reason. It just won't move the cursor. Even if I unplug it and plug it back in it won't pick up the mouse movements.

The drivers are all installed correctly and it was working fine for about a year then it suddenly started giving me problems. Maybe I should RMA it? Not sure what the warranty period is on it.

I must say when I had the RAT5, i hated it. It was one of the worst products I've had the displeasure of using.

My Mad Catz R.A.T 5 died and it was dirt on the lazar, did not know at the time but I thought I would clean it and see if it was and it started working. They are very sensitive to dirt/dust.

Big hands here, too.

Several Razer mice fit well, but feel like cheap plastic.
The old Steelseries MMO one with 16 buttons felt okay.
I cope well enough with a Logitech G700S, although do like the fit of a CM Storm Inferno and a Rocat Kone. The Kova is surprisingly comfy too, but a bit naff on build quality & button placement.

big hands here love the fit of the roccat kone best mouse for comfort shame about the laser and lift off flicker and the fact I rma'd 3 kones in a year for left click failing.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll have a look at the options and see which mouse looks like it will work best for me.

I'll also try cleaning the sensor with some compressed air and see if that fixes the issue. It is such a shame it stopped working since I really quite liked that mouse. I can understand why others might not like it so much though.

I have used a logitech G700 for years and it has been amazing. Though now the wheel tilt left doesnt register clicks all the time.

I have obviosuly been looking at the G700s as the G700 has been so good to me. Though with the new 402, 502 and 602 coming out, i wonder of there will be a 702.

I have tried the Naga Hex this last week, but i found it too small and light for me, maybe im just used to the size and weight of the G700. the 6 thumb buttons are good, but a big small i thought too.

Which has led me to looking a the Corsair M95 too. Looks about the same size of the G700 and plenty of buttons in good positions.

Perixx MX2000

Hi I am new here so please accept my apologies if its nonsense but I always used trackballs but due to the lack of customisation/cost I decided to go for a mouse again. I searched and read many good reports/reviews on the Perixx MX2000 so decided to have a look as it was so cheap compared to some others.

I am amazed at how good it is considering it's price. Some of you have much more experience of the best mice etc so welcome any feedback and comparisons.

I was well impressed with the software as most trackballs/mice I have used had nothing that came close to this. With the option for weights which made it much nicer to use I was and am still well happy using it.

As for their keyboards, I tried one and within fourteen days returned it as two or three keys were starting to cause problems. I literally just received a Corsair K50 and am adjusting to the new layout etc and so far am well impressed with it...But that's a different thread...
