My gf will kill me !!!!

GF = life!
4850 = for a few months!

plus when she egts a job she may give you a 5850 as a present for being a great BF!

It is possible to actually enjoy the experience of giving someone a gift they like and then watch them enjoy using or wearing it (whatever the gift may be), some may even give without expecting anything return though that may suprise some.

Cost doesn't even have to come into it, the thought and effort behind a gift can often mean more to someone than monetary value, though sadly, I would guess many see that as an excuse to pop down to the local garage and buy some tat.

And I genuinely lolled at being under thumb if you spend some money on your partner or a close friend. You are not under the thumb if you give someone you love a gift, it is a fantastic excuse for being an utterly selfish and self centered moron though... "Nah didn't get the woman a gift, wanted to show her I wasn't under the thumb".

Relationships of any sort are 2 way things. Personally I blame a lot of marrige breakdowns on this (but thats another thread).

My GF last year spend a few hours in photoshop editing pictures to make into a scrap book. It was probally my fave present last year, simpilly because Ill always have a reminder when im on placement of what ive got. I couldn't care if im "under the thumb" better than having to handshake little jonny for thrills =p

OP: knowing that you could have gone for a 5800-series will be forgotten in time, spending the gf's xmas present on a piece of hardware you will never forget - or more accurately if you're still attached you will never be allowed to forget.

Poor question.

The card will be old news soon enough. Your GF if she means something to you, you COULD end up marrying. Though you won't if buying a new GPU for crossfire means more to you than a relationship.

is this a serious thread?

That's what I am thinking. Why has he not baught the card yet?

I mean if the girlfriend meant anything to him then this question would have not even come in his mind in the first place. :rolleyes: :D

The 5850 is rare at the moment so you might struggle to track one down. It would give the best performance though.

Infact sod ii, don't buy any presents for anyone and get yourself a 5970 :D
