Just been measuring my temps using Ntune and idle they are 68-71c,is this to hot for idle, should i think about strapping a fan to it ?

hi the 8800 GTX is one hot card , those temps are high but to be hounest a lot of GTX owners have similar temps to yourself i believe the GTX is ok upto 125-130c

You might want to introduce a little more cold air into the case, my OC2 idles a little lower than that at 626/1000 in the clocks. Yours is probaly just a touch warmer because it's breathing in warmer air.

Although, the temps are nothing whatsoever to be concerned about. Use Rivatuner to trace it's temps under some hefty load to see how it copes. That raytracing benchmark in the useful overclocking tools thread, if you set that to max res, vsync off and 16x multisampling, it can cook the GPU up an absolute treat.

Download and install either rivatuner or EVGA precision and set a fan profile?

Jobs a good un!

As alread stated a good airflow is a must in the case. 1 x 120mm fan pulling cold air in at the front, and one at the back extracting hot air out of the case.

i have 4 x 120mm on side,1 x 120 on front and back,1 x 120mm on top,and i have exhaust sucking air out.

Well if the load temps are that high at idle they are certainly going to be hotter under load :D

Yes, but to say whether it's a problem or not, you need to know what his load temps are.

And your post was quoted in agreement, I wasn't refuting what you'd said.
