My give away threads...

I find this thread hard to believe.

Who has the presence of mind whilst under a state of depression to list items on a forum, package them up, and drop them off at a post office.

Now you want them back? Are you going to be refunding people the cost of their postage?

Yes he wants them back:) Glad you understand the reason behind the thread

Blimey I hope you never have friends that are going through hard times.

This. I think there's a lot of people in the thread just posting to start trouble. Shame really, as I think it's a good thing to see TSG back.

More people than you'd think. Just be glad you've never been there tbh.

I can't believe some of the people in this thread. It seems OcUK doesn't have the nice community we all thought. I have been through bad stages also and have done many things that i regret but they are things i would never do in a normal frame of mind. People need to lay off him. He has accepted that he may not get them back and 'won't lose any sleep' if he doesn't so i don't think all the comments are needed really. Just leave the thread to the people he gave the games to and see if they want to give them back or not.

I don't think the people that received the games in good faith are particularly pleased the OP had a change of mind and now is trying to publicly shame them into giving them back. That's not very nice now is it?

Not at all. The whole situation is quite frankly ridiculous. Just beacsuse some peoples opinion differs to your own it doesn't mean they are causing trouble. Of course it's a good thing to see him back, it's not nice to hear anyone is going through a hard time. However, he posted on a public forum and others, like myself, disagreed that this was the best thing to do.

You make it out as if this is a regular and normal occurance. I have never heard of anything giving away all their stuff because they are unhappy

friend of mine had really long hair, he shaved himself bald when his mother passed away. Sadness does strange things to us.

For your information. I fully paid the postage on all items, everything that was given away was not paid for in anyway at all only that of a thank you was received on my behalf.

I don't think I've said that it's a regular thing at all. I just said it happens more than you think. Not everyone handles depression the same way.

I have never heard of anything giving away all their stuff because they are unhappy

So because you've not heard of it happening it doesn't happen?

Have your  back.

I'm done with this thread, you seem intent to derail it.

All the best Paul! Glad to have you back!

i wouldn't go that far. tbh he is the one who is being publicly shamed as people like you and various others or kicking up a fuss over it. He has removed peoples names and said they don't give it back then he doesn't mind. People just need to stop kicking a fuss over it and see what the Paul and the people who have the games do.

I think the fact that the OP removed the names of people shows he is a reasonable guy and not just someone after a few games again. That was the only thing that got my goat in the original request.

Good on you and best of luck.

I think publically asking for them back puts those members in an awkward position and should have been done privately

Yep it's emotional blackmail and completely unfair. And the 'won't lose sleep' comment says to me that the OP will think badly of anyone who chooses not to return the item, when he has no right to think badly of them whatsoever.

I have already said they are under no obligation to send them back and it's completely up to them. I have in no way tried to shame people or emotionally blackmail them, Dirtydog you have always been a Troll in my eyes so I could not care less about anything you post.

I agree with the people stating you should have asked privately if you wanted them back.

A lot of people in the original threads were saying that you shouldn't give the stuff away and yet you chose to.

Asking for it back is all well and good as you were going through bad times but there was no reason to post it in here. It's like you wanted other people to read it just so everyone knew what was happening.

He gave stuff away publicly, I don't see any reason why he can't ask for it back publicly.

OcUK does have a community spirit and the console section, despite the obvious spats which most take with tongue firmly in cheek, definately has this discrete atmosphere of friendship. TSG whether rightly or wrongly held a belief in this trust relationship and community spirit and it empowered him to open himself up to give his stuff away. He has had a rough time, he's now brave enough to admit a mistake and ask his 'so called mates' to recompense; is it really too much for him to ask the question?

Because it needlessly puts the members who recieved the freebies in an awkward position. It's not hard to understand that surely?
