i got a golf vr6 of my bro for 2k had 65k odd on the clock it is in good nick i am 21 with 2 years no clams cost me 1k to insure my self but it drinks so much fuel! i worked out i am getting about 21mpg is this right!

if u take it down the unused run way near me i was going 130 and can see the petrol going down it is mad.

i drive it rather nice around the streets 3k max so i dont see why it is drinking so much!

It's a 6 pot isn't it? I would say 21mpg is about right for a 6 pot around town.

2.8ltr + 21mpg = normal

Here are some stats I found.

Engine : V6, DOHC, front engine FWD
Displacement : 2,792 cc
Valve : 24 valves, 4 valves per cylinder
Transmission : 6-spd manual
Fuel economy : city - 21 mpg, highway - 31 mpg

yea 2.8 .. just love the sound it makes the only reason i keep it costs me a bomb though my have to sell it! do about 60miles a day.

My cousin had one about a year ago, looked awesome in black with a few tasteful exterior mods. Not exactly slow either, suprised insurance is so cheap!

21 is about normal as they all usually have one problem or another.

i have a 16v mk3, they do suffer similar issues as they have similar anciliaries. the best improvement in MPG came from renewing all the vac hoses and ensuring at the loom has not been compromised (ie melted) anywhere. make sure all the earths on the engine are good too

i chose the 16v as i can get almost 40mpg on the motorway if i dont thrash it all the time, itll average just over 31mpg per tank with similar performance if tuned

yup, thats about right for the VR6, they are very thirsty cars

of course it won't help you to say my 275bhp turbocharged celica gets ~ 25mpg combined :p

well ill have a look in my lunch brake to make sure it is all good in there. i was going to get that car but this car was a bargin and the garage would only give him 2k for it and i said i would have it for that n then he got his r32
