i made a post a few weeks ago about a GPU my gf bought me for my bday which was this.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-296-SP

i was to use this along with my panasonic TX-P42UT30B via HDMI ( this tv has no other connection on the back )

the card only produced a black screen on the tv.

i tried to use dvi to hdmi to tv but nothing. i tried to update bios but nothing, i tired everything possible and the card did not work.

so i politely asked HER to send it back which she did. sapphire have tested it twice and it works fine, so they are sending it back.

i wasnt going to buy a monitor untill i moved to my new home but i guess now is the time to buy a monitor and rearrange my room.

if anyone could shed light on this situation or perhaps spec nice cheapest monitor to solve this problem.

moral of this story is that i had a serious talk with the girl-fiend!

it was only hdmi. it was hooked up to my tv which is 42". no other connection on the tv other than hdmi.

the onboard meaning on the mobo? it works fine. altho when i built the computer and hooked it upto the tv i had to adjust the settings for the onboard graphics to fit the tv screen

Yep, thats the one, Overscan often happens, I have had to adjust the image many a time setting my HTPCS.

A little puzzled, can you borrow a monitor from any one or take your pc to a friend.

my friend might have an old monitor i could use, i have to wait until the card arrives back. then i can try.

what does HTPCS stand for? lol

ah right.

right so ive a had a plunder around the house. motherbear has a 20" sharp led tv in her room which has a vga connection on the back.

would this maybe work?

Yes it should work, you need to check you have the DVI to VGA adapter.

I'm sure you checked this but make sure that you bios setting is set to use your card as primary display out put and not the onboard graphics

yes mate im pretty sure there was one in the box with the gpu.

yes tried that too. tried everything. hopefully this works tho.

My HTPC only works through 1 of the 3 HDMI ports on my main TV. But on the other 2 TVs I tried it with it worked through all their HDMI ports. This was with both the iGPU and the 7850 installed.

Perhaps you have the same issue, did you try different HDMI ports on the TV if it has any?

Just noticed you're from NI too ;)
