What are the best gfx card setup out at the moment?

Im considering:-

2x7900gtx SLI

2x1900xtx Crossfire

Reviews suggest the Nvidia route. What do you guys think? (and no i dont want to promote an ATI v Nvidia fan boy battle)

cheers

SLI is the more mature technology and is generally better supported as far as I'm aware. Performance wise they're much and much the same in my opinion.

does a 7950 out perform 2x7900gtx?

the ability for x1900xtx to do HDR+aa is compelling.

no,

but the 7950 is more than enough gfx power to take you over to DX 10.
What resolutions do you play?

Two x1900's will be hot and use a lot of power in xfire.Nevermind noisey

Asus Dual 16xSLI Mobo
2gig ram
150gb Raptor X
X-Fi Xstrememusic

what psu?

Get a conroe instead lol if you want to see a massive improvement in oblivion :D 100% increase ;)

if you have the money go for the 7900 GTX in sli basiclly due to the heat noise and power issues which are fantasiclly better than two x1900's in xfire.

HDR and AA at the same time is over rated IMO.

Also why are you talking about going xfire whn you have a sli mobo?

crossfire will not work with you mobo

While I concur about your query regarding the mobo, arent there some "issues" with the original 7900 gpu that have only been rectified in the 7950?

ps I would say its only pointless to get xfire if you are starting from scratch right now (which I agree the OP is doing, I was just making a general comment)- if you already have a X1900 of either type (slave / master) then its very compelling , and while I only have one card so far the noise was far worse from my 7800GT (2nd edition BFG OC )

Just my 2peneth worth
