My health stats and aim

Maybe I do have a bit of Gyno, im not sure. Either way, there must be a way to convert this breast tissue to muscle. I've seen pictures of women with pecks instead of breasts (which looks rank IMO)

Conversion isn't quite the right word, but icecold has the right of it.

Hope I don't sound patronising here but you do realise that muscle, fat and mammary glands are different types of tissue. You can't convert one to the other.

If you want big lean pecs and a sixpack (don't forget the dozens of other muscles) then you need to lose some fat and gain some muscle through a combination of diet and exercise.

And what Icecold said! :)

If you were sub 10% fat at that weight you would'nt be needing to get fitter. I was reading your stats and thinking this guy is a bit of a monster and then i saw you talking about moobs and a fat belly which threw me.

Aim is to lose side fat, define and build muscle on pecks and stomach

Swam 45 mins after work and did 30 mins of chest and arms earlier.

You look more like 18% bodyfat to me. No offence intended, I just wouldn't want you adjusting your goals in accordance with what are quite obviously erroneous measurements.

You will need to take a close look at your diet (mid morning and lunch in particular).

And seriously, don't fall into the trap of trying to identify specific muscle groups you want to work on when you're the size and body composition that you are currently. You need to work everything, you're small everywhere. Even if your goal isn't to get massive, you still need to grow in balance otherwise you'll look silly (in as well as out of the gym, experienced lifters can quickly identify beginners making this mistake), and you're more likely to get injured.

The physiques you've seen that look good come from dedication to a well rounded training programme.

Thanks icecold. No offence taken. I thought I would be around the 20% mark too

I'm going to stick to swimming, cardio, situps, pressups, pullups, dips etc. I dont know much about targeting different muscle groups so will go for all round approach

Either way, we'll see how I differ from the pic above in a month or so. Hopefully I wont have gotten lazy

That still isn't very rounded. Look in Gordy's Bodybuilding thread for a decent basic routine.

Don't bother with situps at all. Slightly counter intuitive I know, but I haven't don't a situp or a crunch in years and I'll have a 6 pack when I get my bf down. The only direct core work I do is planks and pallof press. In fact, I'll quote myself:

Plank/prone bridge:
If you can do more than 30 seconds without being in burning agony you aren't doing it right. squeeze you glutes (bum) and abs as hard as you can throughout the entire time your doing it.
Try 10 seconds with both feet down, 10 seconds with one leg raised, 10 seconds alternate leg raised, 10 seconds both feet down. Rest and repeat a few times. Not as easy as it sounds.

Anti rotation stuff, which is extremely important:
Contrary to what EVERYONE does in the gym, training your core (including the rectus abdominus) is about stability and resisting movement. This means bracing as hard as you can on all movements.

2nd and 3rd videos down are not available. The others are good though. I have been doing the plank, but probably not correctly

I will try to do some chop and chop & lift exercises

I had a go at the core workouts and those situps on the ball. Wasnt too sure if i was thing correctly
Ive booked a session with a trainer for the 2nd week in march.

Until then, swimming, running and healthy eating :)

Been a very mixed bag this, big unhealthy sat day/night in Liverpool, night out tuesday until 5am (then up at 7.30) but ran 3 5km runs, lots of myotatic crunches and planks and lots of swimming.

I have not eaten cheese for years but wednesday I had a massive craving for cheese and bought and ate a whole chunk of brie! Maybe the tuesday 1 hour swimming session followed by dancing for 6 hours after a few drinks made me require something fatty?

Anyway, good fun weekend and week in general. Ive tried to cut out the mid morning cottage cheese and jsut eat fruit. I have eaten 3 whole chickens though (1 at a time for lunches with salad)

One week later (02/03/12)
