my holidays

No!

If I'm on holiday.. I'm away from home.

Mexico, Cornwall, morroco planned.

This is why I don't want a big house with lots of upkeep. I don't want to be a slave to it.

Indeed, if you want a big house you have to be prepared go pay others to so the upkeep.

Time is much more valuable than money

Yep.
Took me a while to accept having a cleaner is worth it.
Saves me so much time it's worth it.

My parents have a huge house and the garden is "kept" not wild. So they are always slaving over it. When I lived at home I was a slave to it as well.
Give me a small house any day!

Time is precious!

lol it's not a big house it's a semi .. from your answers you really do earn to much .. or just don't care what your house looks like ..
we live in different reality's holidays are for doing stuff round your house .. why would you spend money to go abroad ?? it's the same as where you live but in a different country the only way to realize this is to move there for a yr or 2
i got this out of my system 30 yrs ago ..:P spend on what you have even if you don't have a lot ...

I'm very much opposite of this.
Why wouldn't you spend money abroad?

I value unique experiences.
-mexico is to see the monarch butterfly migration peak. It's a unique natural phenomenon you can't see anywhere else. A life long memory. My. Number 1 thing to do is see this.

These matter and leave an imprint on me so I can look back on those memories.

I'm not going to look back in 30 years and remember that time I spent a week at home doing some DIY.

Everyone is different. But I value new and unique experiences and creating memories.

I have a 30 hr 4 day week, my weekend is leisure with a few hours of garden and diy thrown in ,big garden but its natural so stihl hedgetrim and weed and cut back now and again and a few dedicated garden days
Holidays either leisure or visiting family ,abroad doesn't interest me my last one was walking the Camino from the Pyrenees and across Spain it was amazing but after 7 weeks getting back here was great.
What i find is that some people just do constant diy as a hobby in every spare hour ,i dont think they connect with whats around them in nature, i built a gate last week but took 30 mins maybe, full house paint outside maybe 3 hours with an extending pole in the heat wave

edit obviously when we first bought the house it was a hell of a lot of work but it was a £100k house thats now nearer £400k and was necessary but it definitely aint my hobby

I got DIY out of my system 20 years a go, there is a clue there, don't waste what little time you have on this planet doing something which you can pay others to do.

Everyone is different at the end of the day.

I kind of enjoy DIY projects in a sadistic kind of way :p I certainly enjoy the feeling of having improved my house without having paid somebody else to do an inferior job :D

Holidays are a nice thing, but the stress of packing and travelling abroad isn't really for me. Plenty of nice places to visit in the UK.

Will probably do more holidays when the house is sorted and paid for. Getting close now.

DIY is the worst thing in the world, I leave that kind of manual labour to my butler.
I despise DIY, but I'm also tight and refuse to pay more in labour to some trade than it would cost me to buy the tools and do it myself, so I end up doing what is necessary.

I have now got a gardener though who keeps the garden tidy for £15 every two weeks which is money well spent.

My days off tend to end up doing DIY too :p

My brother spends all his money on holidays and is 45 with no house.

Happy with my choice. Each to their own though.

Ooof I wouldn't go that extreme, always need a place to live, and if you have to rent - that's a lifelong commitment until you die. At least with ownership it's yours once paid off.

I end up doing it both ways, we did legoland/Chessington for a few days at half term, then we'll be going abroad later this year. Holidays need to tie in with the kids anyway. I fit in DIY when I can which is tricky as it makes weekends rather busy.

Its nice to sometimes potter about the house/garden fixing stuff, I get quite a bit of satisfaction from it. Some people just are not interested/cant actually do it so will pay someone else.

Nice to have a bit of a balance though and have a break away from home.
