My in-car footage @ combe

Yeah I know that but they did seem to carry on accelerating away so they certainly were not slow and that Fiesta was certainly something special. :)

Well even the fastest of cars is gonna struggle to catch a car with a 20mph head start

well a fiesta rs turbo lump plus tune(chip+zorst,rr about £400) will see around 190bhp.

mk2 fiesta with cage will be about 800kg.

good starting point right there.

how did you find combe compared to when you used your scoob there Drexel?

Some cool in car footage there DreXeL! Pretty fun Saturday I thought. Have to say I was lovin that old v8 mgb gt running traction control, there was a guy in a pretty serious tuned r32 gtr skyline that had real problems keeping up with him :)
I wish my friend had better luck with his rover tomcat that day, damn thing kept overheating :(

cool vid m8!

Your car is very quick Drexel, was that your first trackday?

Not my first trackday, but first time in the rex, hence still getting to know it so not really pushing it. Plus I was on brand new brake pads so I was braking early and not stomping on them.

It was obvious he wasn't on the limit of grip, those Scoobys and the fiesta simply had a lot more corner exit speed. You don't always need a fast car to go fast around a track.

Yep, that's exactly what was happening. Combined with my early braking.

It felt supurb, and obviously quicker on the striaights. I'm sure it'll be as quick, if not quicker through the bends too. The scoob had loads of grip, and all the handling mods I did meant it had no understeer, but it did have a tendancy to snap oversteer.

In the rex i have just as much grip, but with a much more predictable and progressive rear end, and a lot more controllable during oversteer.

Forget the Fiesta, that Pulsar was mental!!

Yeah that Pulsar was very impressive. Running some serious power I think, I remember seeing it come up behind me and thinking 'christ, that intercooler is huge'..

Well I enjoyed that - lovely sound off the rotary.

Understandable you weren't throwing caution to the wind on your first trackday in the car. You need to find your feet on the first outing, you'll get more adventurous and quicker the more you get on track. :)

I went to Donny with a firm decision I was going to take it easy, make sure me and the car got home in one piece. And that's what I did. Although I didn't have a lot of choice with the fact the car was recorded at 102 db.

Mind you I found out the far side of the track had no microphones so started booting around there - my brother was in the car and said he felt sick. End of that session he got out the car and refused to get back in for the other sessions pmsl :D

The Rex is very quick indeed. Your challenge is to get the best out of it.

Aye, and I relish the challenge if I'm honest. The Scoob was pretty easy to drive on the edge, the rex needs more respect, but is more satisfying.

I'll be on the track again at Japfest, I'll be pushing a bit harder then :D
