I currently work as an on-site IT guy for a large company, and in the future want to get into networking, and eventually run my own business designing and implementing networks for other businesses... can't see me getting bored of the industry to be honest if I stay on this track. I think the day you get bored is the day you can't push yourself any further or have got into a rut.
I was going to go into Journalism until I found that over 80% of journos can't even afford a mortgage. No thanks. You have to strike a balance between what you like to do, and what you can earn to live on in an increasingly material world. If you have one or theother rather than a blend of both you're bound to be unhappy.
