Hi,

My three and a half year old Intel SSD 510 Series has just died and I need to replace it urgently. I don't need much space, something at least 200 GB would do fine. I need speed and reliability and like Intel SSDs. Which one? Thanks! :D

Crucial MX100 or Samsung 840 Evo :)

I would suggest another Intel but the 530 Series isn't really that great in comparison to some of the latest SSDs.

BTW have you checked if its actually still in warranty? I cant recall when they started the 5 year warranty but you may be in luck. Check out here: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/warranty/ If it doesn't come up for some reason trust me your serial number and I will check it out for you :)

Hope that helps.

Why does Overclockers hardly stock any Intel? Everywhere I've read Intel is spoken of the best, most robust and top reliability.

My X25 lasted one year less than that.

I own and have installed lots of Samsung SSDs. Haven't had one die yet (nor have I heard of many, if any that die), but my EVO has been producing some terrible benchmarks. ;)

Thanks I just noticed your message and me and the kids totally destroyed the drive with a screwdriver as we were curious how it looked under the case. No chance of warranty now, never mind... :D The new crucial drive seems OK so far but I haven't done any benchmarks yet.

I am waiting on the new ranges from Intel and then those will get set up but we sell Crucial and Samsung about 50-1 against the Intel ones. But They are also launching some more M.2 drives with a PCI-E interface not SATA-III

Yeah I am waiting on samples of them as well.. Did I speak to you at ICC? I remember being in the same breakout session with someone from there but cant remember his name ;)

HAHAHA you cant beat a bit if wanton destruction.. :D

I would get a Samsung 850 Pro - 10 year warranty.

I couldn't justify spending twice the money for that, although it looks a good drive, is it twice as good? I'm not sure. Fingers crossed the Crucial I have now lasts... :D

seriously...why would you need and pay extra for 10 year warranty on consumer grade SSD?

You dont pay for the 10 year warranty even if great,
you pay for reliability.
Its just the fastest consumer drive with superb endurance on top of that.

I could also say, why pay for a drive that holds your important data and skip the samsung 850 pro and risk failure?
I bet we will find some people in their homes that seldom do upgrades will have a samsung 850 pro in 7 eyars still due to them dont use the computer more for the office, mail and such.

One reason I buy a samsung 850 pro are for the endurance and speed that holds up for years to come. Replacing my crucial M4 after 4 years......and going...soon 5 years then the samsung 850 pro just makes most sense.
No other ssd on the market can do that.

I am not surprised that you sell Samsung and Crucial drives at a 50-1 ratio over the Intel drives. Both perform better and are cheaper than What Intel are offering.

It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to work it out. ;)

i kind of am a bit surprised considering a lot of people will look and think intel! i know that one. Then again samsung are well known for everything
