My Ipod has been lost in the post, where do I stand ?

Hate to be the grammar patrol on this, but its iPod not Ipod :p

...just annoys me.

Hope you get the problem sorted

Well here's another update, i wrote them a very nice letter the other day, posted it yesterday, and had a phone call from the managing director of the company that repairs them no less.

He apologised for the poor service I'd had and the run around from his staff who in fact were not being very helpful. He said that yes they did have a responsibilty to replace it and they would be doing so. He asked for me to send up my proper certicicate of posting, aparantly the cop I sent up isn't good enough for their insurance company, I said well fair enough providing I get it back (I've made a copy of it) and am getting that sent off my RMRD tomorrow, and in 4 - 5 days time I get an 4th Gen 20 gig iPod in replacement :D

I'd send that receipt by Special delivery as RMRD only insures you up to £32. That receipt is worth £150+ yes?

Might be a good idea actually, will tell mother to do that tomorrow, hadn't though of that, although the certificate of posting only covered what got sent away for £32.

I dont understand it I work for purpleworld and I exchange iPods and the minis all the time, if you got coverplan on it its the same procedure as always it gets sent back regardless and customer has to have an Exchange only.

If theres no Exchange stock there or equivelent the customer is entitled to a full refund its that simple, its a Code5 product Return.

It should be the same policy for the electrical stores too, if the stores not sure tell them to check on Eclipse and then Sarg.

I do know Equinox deal with all the Apple related product repairs but then thats the whole point of insurance on many products its a swop over service/ and if its not theres a send away for repair service.

If I was you I would phone customer support number on 0870 600 1550 and ask to speak to head office/DSG, I would advise writing a letter and explaining the situation and try and add proof of reciept/royal mail proof also.

Head office will hopefully send you down Gift Vouchers so you can purchase a new one.

I dont want to say they will 100% but from experience of dealing with "customer issues"/I work on Customer services btw nearly all the time customers have written or spoken to head office(DSG group) they take the matters seriously and since they dont want bad press they just send down gift vouchers right away... and frankly even £200 is nothing to them......

If they dont bend there arm and take responsibility tell them your going to a small claims court, and ultimatly DSG will be forced to shell out since its more expensive for them to goto Court then it is to write off some gift vouchers/but only use that as a last resort!

Goodluck

i work for the blue shirt lot where we are alwaysd lowering prices, and when I checked the service and repair guid it said under cover plan to phone PC Service Call who then got in touch with equinox who in turn got in touch with me, sent me packaging to post the ipod away in.

Thats basically when it got lost, Cover Plan said no way they won't replace it because it never reached it's destination. wrote a letter to Equinox who phoned me back soon after getting my letter and this morning, a 4th Gen 20 gig iPod is siting here now.

Has certainly put me off buying any sort of extended cover onmy products again now though.

Its a complete con, if something goes wrong with anything electronic you should be able to get it fixed on your home insurance. Check your policy though because you may have to drop it down some stairs first.

We have had loads of electronic stuff, laptops etc, fixed outside warranty with home insurance. Also you could also argue that it was not fit for purpose because it did not last a reasonable amount of time (which is written into your statuatory rights). I read somewhere that someone got their TV replaced after 4 years because 4 years was judged by the courts to be an unreasonably short amount of time for a TV to last.

How odd it would say Pcservices, they deal with our laptop/pc repairs/support for us both companies....
But im not at all surprised sometimes it does state that and its odd ive never seen Pcservices come up for an iPod issue.

So they sent u a 4th gen 20gig free? if thats the case then its a result non the less....

Always lowering prices and the best of both worlds can stuff if literally ;)
