My keyboard disables when trying to install Windows

I've finally got the time to install my new SSD in my PC, but whilst trying to install XP onto it (I have a Win7 upgrade, so have to install XP first) m keyboard disables when it gets to the "press enter to continue, r to repair, F3 to quit" I have a G15 keyboard, and prior to this screen (the initial driver loading) the keyboard screen shows the Logitech logo & name, and the numberpad light is responsive. However, once on this screen, the name & logo disappear from the screen, and the numberpad light is unresponsive.

I have tried plugging the keyboard into several different USB ports (it started in the USB3 hub on the back of my monitor, and is now in a USB2 port on the mobo). The keyboard works fine whilst in the bios, so it doesn't make sense :/

Any help?

Do you have a old PS2 keyboard you could use? Might be a driver issue when loading everything else.

or a PS2 adapter.

unfortunately not, no. I'm at Uni down in Loughborough at the moment, and the only PS2 keyboard I have is back home in Sheffield :/

I think all the PCs in the labs are USB now, but I'll go and ask the IT department about it tomorrow. Hadn't thought about that tbh.

try and find an option in the bios something like "enable legacy mode" for usb devices.

It's already enabled.

assuming windows 7 will detect the keyboard during setup, have a read through this.

Managed to sort it by upgrading from a retail version of W7 I have. Don't know why it was playing up, but atleast it's working now!

Glad to see it's sorted, W7 used to give me loads of drivers issues. W8 seems to have overcome that issue which is fantastic.
