My Latest Build aka The Beast...

I love it!
My current PC is only a gen older! xD

One thing I can't figure out, why is the CPU mounted on a card and horizontal?

Early days way of mounting CPUs. if I remember back I think they're called daughter boards.

Even further back they used to look like modern day 30cm long GPUs in size.

just realised I have no LAN port haha
cant install my wireless dongle cos when i connected it, windows 98 brought up an error message saying 'WTF??!!' lol

transfering some stuff via cd

God this really brings back memories. I remember having 4-5 PCs like this all networks so me and my friends could simply play Age of Empires. I remember having to rush out and buy a few ethernet cards to use too...those were very good days!

i know, its amazing thinking back that this at one point would have been a pretty powerful machine haha

runs windows 98 awesomely
3d screensavers are full of win :p

Wasn't this a phase AMD and Intel went through in the late 90s where they decided normal chip sockets were rubbish and using slots was the way forward. for like ½ a generation and then they both changed back again?
I assumed that card in this case was an adaptor of some kind?

Now I'm thinking back to the days when CPU clocks and multipliers were done via 'jumpers' on the motherboard...

nice build and spec, makes me want to dig out our old PII 233mhz gateway PC that was over £2k back in the day.

monster truck madness was 3D pixelated immenseness

Think I've still got some DOS 3 and Wordperfect 5.1 floppies somewhere if Windows proves too much for it. Don't know where my Borland Sidekick disks went though.

Damn I threw away a compatible joystick a few weeks ago, you could have had it! I would love to find out what my first computer was, cost £10 at a boot fair 10-15 years ago!
