My Lian-Li case sides add 18C to temps!

Just to double check the situation with push-pull. Am I right in thinking then that all three fans (push, pull and rear case) need to be working at the same speed? How can this be ensured? Speedfan or...?

Many thanks,

Easiest way is just to buy 3 of the same fans. Its not a bad thing if the rear case exhaust is sucking more air than the pull fan is pushing in its direction.
Those LianLi front fan clip-ons should work well.

Hi, use a AKASA PWN FAN SPILTTER CABLE to connect Apache fans to mobo, am l right in thinking you have a EX58-UD5,if so set your CPU SMART FAN MODE TO>PWN(for 4 pin fans) you'll find that they run at 1400RPM don't worry they can do that -

As for your rear fan set it to 1500rpm, this will help to vent hot air quicker -

Model PC-V1110A/B -
System Fan (Rear) 12cm Ball-bearing (1020~~1240~1500RPM) Factory setting to mid speed@1240RPM

Think cool ;)

If they're the same fan at the same speed, they should shift the same volume. The same cannot be said across different fan types.

thanks.

i've ordered the akasa fan splitter so in theory i should be able to run both Apaches plus two front and rear fans all at the same speed. should be all good i think!

cheers,

Problem is lack of intake fan... And door having only few very small airflow slots in sides (one of the things I didn't like in V-serie) so try with door open.

Result!

Thanks so much guys for all your help and suggestions with this.

The Lian Li HDD Rack with 1000RPM Intake Fan plus the extra "pull" Apache CPU Fan has enabled me to keep the case sides ON at last and CPU and system temps are basically the same as before.

Previous temps (with sides OFF and only ONE Apache in "push" and NO front intake fan):

Idle - 43C
Load - 73C

New temps (sides ON and Extra Apache in "pull" mode, plus Lian Li front 1000RPM Intake):

Idle - 44C
Load - 74C

Total cost for all that? £35! Bargain! So adding an intake fan and the extra Apache has sorted all my temp issues. Very very pleased indeed!

The front intake fan really makes a difference to CPU temps. With the door closed (so intake air is blocked and can't get in) CPU runs at load at about 76C, with the door open it runs a few C cooler. Now I just have to find a way to keep the door from closing by itself (floor isn't flat!).

Cheers!

haha yeh indeed.

to be honest i'm really disappointed with Lian Li's choice not to include an intake fan in this chassis. It's a premium case costing around £130 and is clearly for server/workstation use given it's size and features, so an intake fan is a really odd thing not to include...

Never mind all working now!

Probably they didn't want it to have just two 5.25" bays.

And price is increased by higher complexity of dual chamber design (and probably extruded door with slight machining) which is also behind cooling problem... different design just isn't any automatic advantage.
