My mates new car - BMW M3 *pics*

sweeeet car but needs to be grey imho, in black just looks like an m3

I do love them but the added price (when new) could easily mod a standard m3 to a better spec, the suspension and brakes on the csl need binning if you do any fast road / track work (more so the brakes). I would have bought an m3 supercharged, cams, exhaust, suspension, AP brake kitted the beast and had a 500b hp+ monster

I would be intrested to do some coparisson times between a csl and mine after my mods are done.

even with the weight penalty the company doing it state it will be faster than a standard csl, obviously inferior tyers and suspension will hamper her in the corners but that is being addressed as well once my wallet recovers;)

As they have a csl as a demo car and are very reputed in the field I have little doubt in their clame, also the fact that all the bits going in mine are exactly the same as what they use on the csl doing the same conversion.

My only real problem is the skill of the driver ;)

All that said second hand I would have probably bought a csl if I had the money as it is a very special club to be in :)

One thing you won't get though, Steve, is the induction noise ;)

:(

I know, I have been searching ebay for a gadget that makes the noise in time with the engine like those fake dump valves but have yet to find one.

:p

The lose of the induction noise is the reason John from Thorney Motorsport hasn't s'charged his CSL, he can't bare to as he feels it is sacralage :)

Funny thing is you could have a faster car for a lot less. I mean like Steve said, regular M3 with the works could be just as nice. I never want to finance a car so unless I'm making oodles of cash I think about 10k will do it for me. Would have to be the car for 4-5k then 4-5k of performance mods ontop.

I guess your only hope is to install some sort of MEGA I.C.E and play MP3s of CSL noises as you drive along :p

by getting a job that pays into the 40% tax bracket for a start ;]

lovely car, wrong colour tho imo :]

Of course you could! But you get a special feeling sitting behind the wheel of the CSL.... makes you giggle like a child :D The experience counts for a lot.

Ah yes I saw it on top gear a while back and jus the idea of a bmw stripped down and built with carbon fibre felt like something I wanted lol. Plus love the shape. But omg the money. I guess you could drive it for 15-20k miles and sell it. lol

yes of course, they play a major part. Would be interested to see what time the m3 could put in with the semi slicks of the csl. wouldn't be surprised if it was as much as 10 seconds.

I think it was Evo (possibly Autocar) ran a test in which they swapped the wheels from the CSL onto a standard M3, and the standard car was then just as quick round the track as the CSL.

Just pure ****ing sex mate  But grey all the way. :)

What exactly is so special about the induction kit on the CSL? Can't they just be fitted to a M3? Suppose the engine is a little different...

what track was that? i think the difference would be more pronounced around the nurburgring

Not sure.. something to do with Alpha-N's and different ECUs and stuff. Science, which is beyond me!
