Hi there

OK very little time, so it is literally just Heaven results:-

System Spec:-
Intel 3960X @ 4.80GHz
Samsung 1600MHz @ 2400MHz
NVIDIA GTX 680 @ 1201MHz Core / 2402MHz Shader / 7200MHz Memory
Drivers - Ones on the CD!

To overclock I used MSI afterburner:-
Core voltage +100mv
Core speed +150 (This with core boost results in 1196-1201MHz)
Memory speed +600 (Results in 7200MHz)

This should hopefully give you some insight into overclocking potential and raw performance.

I believe with EVGA prevision tool X higher speeds will be possible along with higher voltages to get such speeds. :D

If you look at my original 7970 OC results on original drivers, the new NV card is only marginally slower in Heaven.

ATI 7970 does seem to have the slight edge when both cards are overclocked, but the NVIDIA card seems to be better optimised in games.

Sound wise the 680 is the quietest card I've tested yet and it never goes beyond 80c under load and generally sits around 60c under load.

A very impressive card and it is selling like hot cakes. :D :D :D

By the looks of it, doesn't seem like people need to much convincing to buy them as they are out of stock all over the place! Wish I had a spare £400 like a lot of people seem to. :p

we have all been saving money since last autumn :D when it was supposed to be released :P everyones breaking open there piggy banks :D

Most peoples had a very good salary more likely to afford £400+. I know the feeling as it took so long time to saving up before purchase a single graphic card £400+ with all household bills to pay.

luckily i managed to save enough for 2 cards so at the minute just waiting ...waiting to see which 2 from evga i want roll on april/may

but £400-£500 for mid range cards still sucks :(

:D ocuk rules :P

Dropped 400 on my 580 at launch, its almost 1.5 years old now and been amazing since, and will continue to be amazing.

If it's gonna last you a while, and get a lot of use, whats £400?

how exactly are they mid range?

GTX 680 (GK104 CHIP) was going to be the mid range card from the begining but due to amds range of 7970 not performing as well as it should have nvidia have decided to release the gk104 as the high end card while leaving the true high end (gk 110 chip) for realease in dec or rebadge as next 780 series...apparantly the gk 104 is 15-25% faster than 580...gk 110 is 50%+ faster than 580 hence it being withdrawn and being used as the next generation of cards...nvidia are now officially ahead of themselves technology wise and all because they went overkill thinking the amd 7970 was a huge jump up from what they thought....but didnt happen :p

lots of info on it if your search.

isnt gonna stop me buying evga *** 4gb but the zotac 2ghz and dual chip 685 look very promising if they are released as expected in august

by the way just looking at the spec shows the 680 is mid range... nvidias time table for card releases shows the gk 104 having - Memory Interface: 256-Bit which mid range all have

high ends going back to gtx 285 all have - Memory Interface: 384-Bit which the gk 110 also uses

enough said ;)

Wow that top score is almost double my 470, so sli 470 is the way to go for me to get 680 performance, for half the price.:D

I got 74.6 fps with my GTX470 SLI setup with those settings from the top image in Heaven 2.5 and they weren't the best drivers either for it - newer ones probably get about 77.
