My MSI RMA Experience...

Never had any problems with OCUK returns in the years i've used them. As my thread i posted a couple of days ago, my MSI 7970 Lightning blew up, so i've sent that back to a competitor. Will reply to this thread with my experience of MSI and there returns.

I have 2 MSI products, motherboard and graphics card. Motherboard is performing very well and the graphics card blew, so this might be the last time i buy MSI, i usually by ASUS and i've only had 1 issue in the past with over 20 products purchased from them.

Currently using 2 x msi 580 twin frozr's and heres my findings after a year.

First card, bought from ocuk..never had a problem with it in a year.
2nd card i bought, 1 fan broke within a week and then i found out how awful msi were to deal with. Repeated emails went into a loop with no communication possible with them, the shop i bought it from had the same experience with them. Eventually rma'd the card. Got a replacement from a different supplier as oc were out of stock and have been since. This one went to 94 degrees under any game situation compared with 60 on the other cards. Rma again. Bought another from a different supplier and finally got one working properly and had it since. This card has a buzzing fan and its ****ing me off, gonna have to replace it before selling them both. Not interested in msi after my experiences. When i get my 680s or 690 it wont be msi i look to.

MSI have been amazingly supportive with me in terms of both quality of product and customer service.

Anything I have asked of them they have dealt with promptly and in a professional efficient manner. Believe me I have asked a lot of them too!!!

Whatever happened to ScottyB?
I'm still here but I'm afraid I'm quite a busy chap these days so, as much as I'd like to, I can't spend much time here. I still read and respond to all trust messages though.

I'd just like to clarify a couple of quick points, I've only read a few posts so far so no clue where we stand.

This will not be the original card, to speed up the RMA process (bearing in mind that the card needs to be processed & tested by OcUK before they even send it to us) We don't test the card's immediately - we trust OcUK enough not to waste time on it. This also means that we cannot give updates on whether a product is faulty or not, assume that if OcUK sent it back to us then it was.

This is also why end users are instructed not to return any accessories. The product is visually checked, put into storage for return to our factory for analysis and then a pre-boxed replacement is sent out.

I'm genuinely surprised by the ESD bag being too small, these cards are tested & packaged in the same factory as they are manufactured so there is little excuse for this. However, the packaging is also ESD so I'm not worried by it.

sorry, totally off topic, but we do :p

All the material, including the logo itself states MIL-STD-810G

Have they been tested for use in salt fog and ballistic impact? That doesn't sound very gfx card friendly tbh :p It would be interesting to know which tests they use to meet the MIL-STD-810G standard.

I thought it was common knowledge to not send back any accessories etc and just send the faulty component when getting a repair unless the company specify otherwise.

I'm a bit of a pessimist so this post actually sheds MSI in a good light for me. How much did it cost you in postage and packaging etc?

£25, as the lightning fully loaded in original box and parts is 2.2kg, would have been presumably £9 for the card alone as it would fall under 2kg.

I'm not trying to put msi in a bad light, all being well they could come out of this looking good. The main thing here is lack of communication on msi/ocuks part as well as some ignorance on my part for not thinking to look for specific instructions outside of the rma documentation.

Having worked in the military I can assure you all mil spec electricals are incredibly durable, not as good as atex standard but still very high quality.

Thanks for the reply scotty.

I've spoken with our returns guys, OcUK must have given you the wrong contact info because this is the first they'd heard of it. We do have different teams for notebook and components.

They can send you a pack of brand new accessories for your card but I'm afraid they cannot replace the packaging. As explained in my earlier reply, assuming that OcUK sent them back to us, your card, along with box & accessories are probably on a ship heading back to Taiwan.

If you could trust message me with your contact details I will arrange for these to be sent to you immediately.

Glad to see you scottiB, hopefully this can all be worked out amicably and help restore some faith in regards to the situation.

That sounds fair and very kind of you scottib :) will send my details in trust.

My email was forwarded on to the components dept, can you kindly contact them with my email address and ask them to ignore the forwarded message?

good news mate.

all companies are diffrent when it comes to rma procedures, i had to send back my logitech g930 headset and was told to return everything. i then recieved a brand new headset.

Hope it gets sorted, you do NOT need this around xmas time man.

Keep us up todate whats going on, i hope you get all the right kit back i mean the main reason you paid all the extra was for the EXTRA and now its gone.

I bet it makes you feel dirty and like you ebayed it or something lol
