You can have the dot stream to a BT speaker.
I google it and it said this

All very odd then considering I'm currently streaming music via blue tooth from my Android G4 plus phone to my Amazon Dot (using Goole Play Music).
Also just used Jet Audio Plus and its playing my music
You are either doing something wrong or your Dot is faulty.

What the dot will do is stream from services that it supports. Such as Amazon music or Google music.
What you cannot do is what people on here are suggesting. Which is directly stream as if it's a speaker.
What your doing is indirectly streaming via online services.
What I was doing was using Google Play Music as a music player to play music stored on my phone, rather than using the Streaming service from Google Play. So it can be used both ways - any audio that your phone will play will stream via BT
And now you can play random sounds to your Dot and annoy other people in your house
