My Network Places Problem

Hi

I have recently networked two home computers by running a cat cable between the two and sharing the internet connection.

My problem is that on my computer (one with the net connection) no shared folders appear in my network places but on my sisters they all show up fine.

This made even more confusing because my sisters computer does actually show up in "view workgroup computers" on my computer!

any ideas?

Have you enabled sharing on the drive which you want to be shared? That could be your problem. This is done by going into my computer>right click on the drive you want to share>sharing tab>"Share this folder on the network".

Well, you need to make sure your computers are part of the same network, the only thing you really need to do is run the network setup wizard (start->network connections->network setup wizard).
When the setup asks for the network name use MSHOME. Do the same for the other computer using the same network name (MSHOME).
Then also make sure your Firewalls on both computers allow connectivity. (you can find out if it is your firewall by turning off or quiting the firewall on both comps and then trieng to access network places)
