My new 8600GT is showing artifacts :(

need numbers really, can;t just go on that. it could be overheating but if you have tried the latest drivers then only thing left is an rma.

Seems now as though my machine is randomly locking up as well :(

Just got this:

If you have had the card for less than 30days then you're looking at around a week or so (maybe less) depending on how busy they are, but it's hard to say. In my experience they do have an excellent RMA service. Best give them a call/email :)

From what ive heard OcUK are pretty good when it come to RMA's never actually sent for an RMA tho so i dont know personally.

LOL ok. Sent my GFX card back to them 3 weeks ago and still havnt got any thing back / any info on when i will get it.

I belive after 28 days its consumer rights that they have to give me a new card *maybe*??

3 Months :O omg.

Mines is in Palits hands. Could be 7 years tbh.

only 8 more days till the 28 day period - if this is correct.

Can some one reasure me on this one?

No not really.

Jus the 7900's are known for dieing. Frequently.

Well this is the first graphics card I've ever bought in my life that's given me these sorts of troubles

And I've bought A LOT of graphics cards...

I have the exact same problem with this card. doesnt happen often, only when playing certain games with the settings cranked up full e.g. Far Cry, LOTRO.

get the snow artifacts all over the monitor, rebooting clears it. looks like an RMA too,but dont want to be without a GFX card in my pc for 3 months or more! no pc to use!

Can't fault them though, that's good use of the search function. :D

Does your card artifact only when running demanding games? What about 3DMark '06? ATI Tool?
Checked it's not got clogged with dust?

Sucks to have a card break but better to get it replaced than hinder yourself with a tempremental one that's picky about the games you play.

White dots (sparklies) that don't show up in a screenshot are usually caused by the core overheating or being clocked beyond it's limit. If your temps are ok, then it looks like the core isn't able for the clock speed it's set at.

You could try underclocking it by 50Mhz to see if the sparklies go away, but the bottom line is that you need to rma the card, and the sooner the better.
