Hi below is my proposed new build around £400 budget. let me know what you would change etc, did think it might be worth swapping to a 8 core as the price difference isn't much.

Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Boost OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card

AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail

ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 ATX Motherboard

TeamGroup Xtreem LV "Frost Edition" 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit

Cooler Master Blizzard T2 CPU Cooler

thermal compound

at 409.65 so far including vat and delivery..

I already have the atx case and 750w psu and 1tb sata hdd.
My old spec was a q660 quad core, 4gb ram, and a gts 450,

If i can stretch to it i may add a ssd to run the o/s on

Hard to say what the make of the case is, it only has a ******** stamp on it but no model number, i bought it back in 2008. It has 5 chassi fans with space for another.

The PSU is modular bought it from pc world along time back all i know is it 750w. if i can dig up the email from then i might be able to shed some light on its model number as there are no markings on the unit itself.

edit tower looks like a Sharkoon t9,

Yep with you on that one! i had on catch fire once from a well known manufacturer smoke pouring out of the psu.
its 6 years old so its probablu worth replacing.

Very good PSU added, changed the motherboard as I have the same one you specced in my other PC and it isn't great. Cheaper RAM, and placed a SSD in there so you can see the price difference.

Thanks for the details,

A couple of questions:

Why did you change the graphics from the 4gb to the 2gb model ?

Is it worth sticking a octo core amd chip in rather than the 6 core ?

ive just built the same pc with a msi gaming 270x 2gig card 6300 cpu and that asrock 970 extreme 3 r2 mobo its great overclocked my cpu to 4.4 easy with a a50 cooler and must say im well impressed with performance for the price.
