you not having enough length with the 8 pin cable seems odd i'm pretty sure that my cm storm sniper is taller than the 690 and I have an XFX psu too and I can fit the 8 pin (with a struggle!) up to it with the psu fan facing up

So, you think I should resit the cooler 90 degrees to the left? so the fan is pushing the air thru the cooler and out of the case? Would doing this help with the overclock?
You can have it either way, it shouldnt be affecting your overclock,
what are the issues?
well I dont really have any issues as such but atm i`m just running at normal settings due to the fact that I turned on the PC this morning and it was running for 3 or 4 hours with me away from it. When I returned it had locked up although it had not reset or turned itself off was just locked up. I reset it and the Bios flashed up some warning about stability and it was reverting to normal settings. So since then i have just left it but last night it ran without any issues at 4.4ghz. I might try again with the OC saves in the Bios it might just be a one off. Everything else seems to be working flawlessly tbh i am very happy with everything else atm. will post a picture of some benchmarks shortly

You shouldnt have a problem with the mobo power supply cable? I have a 690.
Did you route it through the last hole directly above the connection? can be a fiddle getting it through but it will go.
Also why the overclock if your only intending to play star craft and WoW. their not demanding games. I would reset and leave alone.. imo

I`ll take another look at that lead later it was a newish one and so I suppose ones it been in there a while and stretched out it will probably fit. The overclock was for free tbh since I ordered the bundle like that but yeah since I was having trouble i have reset it and its been working fine since. I might look at that again in the future along with re-flashing the 6950 to a 6970 but atm I just dont need that. Have to see how it plays in Crysis 2.
