I picked up my MR2 today, it's a 1998 Rev 5 GTi-16 T-Bar in Black (It's the UK non-turbo version). I haven't driven it much, just about 30 miles home from the dealership. So far though i'm very impressed, drives very well, certainly has some go to it. Sounds beautiful compared to my Coupe too.

It cost me £3400 but it has 112,000 miles on the clock, it doesn't worry me too much though as it has a Full Toyota Service History. The car has some aftermarket wheels which i did intend to change for some rev 3 wheels (rev 5 seem pretty rare and are quite pricey). However i think the current wheels are ok and actually suit the car.

Insurance wise, it cost me an extra £330 on top of my original £750 premium which runs out in April. As a yearly premium it works out at about £1250, which i think is pretty good at 19 with 2 years NCB.

Probably going to get the car laser aligned and wheels balanced today as there is a fair amount of vibration in the steering wheel at 60mph+. I think it's probably that the wheels aren't balanced as the dealership actually fitted these wheels as the ones it came in with were in poor condition (it was a part-ex). Anyway, enough of the boring stuff, some pictures:

That's nice!

Now go make it look like a tacky Ferrari copy :)

No, thats really nice for the money. I like the look of it, especially in black.

Squeeky clean, too!

How many miles will this be good for? Or are these reliable?

IIRC these engines can just keep going and going and going if you loook after it :)

Thats not THAT bad. Have seen rev5's go for a lot more.

Engine go on for many years yet if its looked after. Very reliable cars.

Black really is the best colour for the MR2 (apart from yellow!)

Im not keen on those alloys, but I'm a big fan on the standard ones. That car looks perfect cosmetically! Did you find a CD changer?

For the posts above, the engine is a 2.0 16V with about 170bhp on tap (around 7.5secs - 60). For me, the N/A is a nice balance between speed and fuel economy! The growl of the engine is nice too though

Looks tidy Serj, good job!

Looks very clean! I like the shape and the colour, I don't think the wheels are bad at all!

That engine is about the single most boring thing I've ever seen in my life, lookswise though!

Get in there with some flash HT leads, nice shiny polish, few other details! That'll see it nicely sorted :)

Much better than that Hyundai :)

Looks great with that spoiler too, and good choice on going back to stock wheels.

Edit: Oh, it's a T-bar too - very nice :D.

Very nice looking car mate.

I have seen 2's with over 200k on turbo versions
112K on full history is fine, the engine's are extremely strong.

As far as looks go, I think you should get some standard wheels IMO, I think the OEM look is the best, i'm yet to see a MR2 that suit aftermarket alloys.

Have fun in it, I'm certainly enjoying mine now :)

Yep! Was in the storage box behind the passenger seat. Only problem is the screen on the headunit is broken :o How would i go about buying a headunit that will be compatible with the changer? Would getting the same brand work?

Storage boxes eh... I always wondered what those boxes were behind my seats :o How do I lift them up?

Looks a nice example (black's the best colour, but the paintwork on that looks especially good). Bagsy a ride when you go back to Aber :p
