I recently moved to Florida in the US, I placed the order for the car about 5 months ago and managed to get one of the first 2008 Cayman S build slots. After many months of waiting for the thing to be built, I finally got to collect my car a couple of days ago.

So its a new 08 model and for those of you familiar with how Porsche work you get next to nothing on the car unless you specify it, not even auto dimming mirrors or xenon's. I spec'd mine up with full leather interior, xenon's, auto dimming mirrors and auto wipers, auto climate control, sports chrono pack, PCM (satnav and other bits), adaptive sports seats and the Bose surround sound package.

The colour is Basalt Black which is a black with gold flecks.

Also the plate is temporary, my real one is coming in a week which will be CAYMAN 5 :)

Very, very nice.

The outside is sex on wheels, the inside looks like a wonderful place to be.

Congratulations. :)

Hello stranger, we haven't seen you around these parts for years now.

Very nice car, it was something I was looking into a few months ago but decided that by the time you spec them up you might as well go for a 2nd hand 911

lucky so and so :( Gorgeous car, well done :) Only a year older than me too! Being a pilot must pay well if thats your occupation ;)

Looks great, though I have to agree with eidolon that a second hand 911 would be my choice of Porsche at this price bracket. Good luck finding some twisty roads to enjoy it on though!

Much prefer them in another colour (red or white), but fair shout, if subtlety is your thing, lovely car!

(a dude from something awful forums just bought this one to demonstrate what im talking about when it comes to colour)

I live in a place called Windermere which is about 15 miles outside of Orlando. I pondered the 911 idea but actually the Cayman S is quicker than the base 911 and from my experience on track the Cayman handles better than all but the GT3. My Dad has a 997 Turbo back in the UK too which certainly helped with my decision.

To be honest I just prefer new cars, finding a 911 or Cayman with the kind of spec I wanted would be impossible, most people just don't spend that kind of money on options. Couple that with the fact that I'd much rather be the first person to drive the car and the great warranty that you get with a new Porsche it made my decision pretty easy.

I'll be getting clear side indicators soon and yes the bumperettes suck but what can you do :(
