My new COD4 hardcore server

Thanks for the positive comments.

The reason for no clays is I have a real hatred for them, too many people use them, normally so they can camp in a corner, I have seen too many maps turn into a clay mine field as half the people on a team plant clays everywhere.

I understand some people might not agree, and that's fair enough, plenty of other servers for those people. :)

If your that bothered about claymores that is why there is the option to use bomb squad :p

I've just started playing CoD4 online for the first time (level 6 :D) to keep me busy until L4D2 comes out and I have to say I'm pretty impressed, but that Hardcore stuff makes it difficult to learn for me. And why are all these servers for 30+ people - it's instant death for a newb like me :D

Problem is theres no balance... you either have normal mode where you might as well be firing rubber bullets - its kinda crap having to hold the gun on someone for like 10 seconds to get a kill - or hardcode mode which is awesome in that if you have skill and are on target you can realistically kill people very quickly - but doesn't induce enough spread on spraying - so newbs can just pray and spray and get kills :(

Originally DOD was great for that - single tapping or controlled burst fire was very accurate and did a lot of damage but sustained fire was impossible to do much with.

LOL. But this my friend is a dedicated server, 1000 times better then anything IW.NET can provide. Ill come on tonight if anyone else is thinking of playing ?

Unless you're talking player numbers :D Then IWNET is 12.5% better with it's 18 vs 16 on this one ;):p

What version of COD4 are you guys running ?

I take it the 1.7 patch isn't used much, as there's a lack of servers with it in the browser - most are empty...

And, is it obligitory to have jump bound to fire:p  Most servers I've been on are full of hyperactive zebedee impersonators, which grated years ago in BF2, and still does...

It's 16 slots for a reason.

IMO opinion more is just silly. From years of playing matches of 5v5 it's much more tactical with less players.

Otherwise it just turns into a nade fest.

IMO most of the maps are too small for more than 8v8 anyway, and thanks to the ridiculous spawns you still end up with your team mates stuck to you at the start of the round.

I may add 2 private slots and bump it up to 18 in total.

Moody my server is 1.7

If not many show up when you search for servers it's more than likely a problem with whatever it is that generates the list.

32+ player servers are great for HQ mode - everything else much over 16 gets silly.

My thoughts exactly.

I hate HQ game type.

S&D is my fave due to no respawn.

TDM is ok for a laugh, I can just about stand Sab or Dom.

Free for all should be renamed camp for all.

Is there any particular time it gets busy? jumped on just now but no one around... which I guess isn't unusual for this time on a work night.

S&D is my fav. game type but I do like a bit of HQ mode - being the last one left defending the HQ against massive odds does it for me.

Thanks. I'll pop on later tonight & give it a shot. If anything I'll add one more to everyones k/d ratio :)

There was plenty of servers ( 14,000 according to the list ), just many weren't populated. More of them had players when I tried a few times with the vanilla version earlier the same day.

Wow I suck after not playing so long... was still second on the server that I hopped onto but was mostly from instinct kicking in - my aim was... wild... lol.

If the server is empty just join anyway and sit in spec for a few mins, usually a few will start to join, within a few maps it will have plenty in it.

I'm trying to look into how the auto response messages work, like where you type !rules into chat and it returns all the rules in console, anyone know?
