My new Hookah

Here's the one I got a few days ago, only one hose in at the moment because the buggers only sent me one grommet! Ah well, gives me an excuse to get one of those snazzy glass bowls and some more shisha anyways :D

As an aside, if you've ever been tempted to try the metal charcoal trays, don't! A) they're rubbish and B) I burnt myself on it!

I don't know if mine is even 'branded', it's listed on hookahshop.co.uk as a 3 hose Sphinx but they don't list a manufacturer for it. I'm really pleased with it though, it all fits together nice, doesn't lean, it's nice and sturdy. Smokes nice too.

I got it for a few reasons - it's a three hose, 75cm tall pipe at a really good price (£40!), and it's black! I don't really like the blue and green ones very much, they're too bright. My little sitting room is really small and I've nowhere to store it so I wanted something I don't mind having around.

I only got my first hookah (a really small, really cool looking dark red and brass one) at the beginning of February in Egypt, so I'm new to it all and I don't really know much about it all right now, I'm still learning, but the Shisha King ones look nice to me. The one I've just bought did have a very very small leak in it at first but I just jammed a tiny bit of PTFE tape (plumbing tape) in it, it's been fine. I'll probably drop a little blob of solder in there at some point. There's no purge valve on it, but all I do is pop one of the bungs out where the other hoses go and blow, all the smoke purges out nicely.

Edit: Mine is the same as this one, but it's three hoses and it's black. Was only 99p more than that one but they all seem to have sold, not surprised at that price :D

this forum is so weird, loads of times I've been thinkin of somethin obscure and checked here and there has been a thread about it. Been a member here for ages and never seen a thread on hookah before, never really smoked shisha before until last week and been debating a lot with my "mate" about it. Weird.

My mate bought me back a little hookah from Morrocco over Christmas, we quit smoking last week and have been using it to ween ourselves off the fags.

Now, from what I've read a "typical" hookah session lasts for at least 40 minutes and contains as much as tar and nicotine as a 20 deck of fags, but the page (wikiP) was talking about the tobacco they use in Morrocco and places like that but that that was illegal to sell in this country. We've been smoking Al Fakkar tobacco (grape flavour, tried berry and all, recommendations?) which says on the side of the packet that it contains 0.05% nicotine and 0 tar.

Apparently it has to contain tar because its smoke and it also has more carcinogens in it because the smoke is sticky and wet, can anyone clear this up for me please?

Also, while we're on the subject, 3 of us quit, me and my mate and the one who boguht the hookah, the one who boguht the hookah is the only one not smokin it and he claims we havent quit because we're "still smokin". This is comin from a guy who smoked the weekend he quit (because he always planned to that weekend), the week after (because he was at a funeral) and then that weekend (because he's a ****) and I'm talking like at least a full packet of cigarettes a pop and he's got the balls to come and lecture me about quitting.

Who's got an opinion? Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, it is a nice hookah.

I think you should check out www.hookahforum.com and ask there. I dont really know anything about the nicotine or tar content.

Flavour reccomendations? Al Fakher Mint is great, I heard Cinnamon is ncie too.

And Skyfall, what did u mean by that?

You talking about the thing you clean the pipes with?

Have you guys blown bubbles? I wouldn't recommend it to newbie shisha smokers, as it can seriously mess with your head. Instructions:

Fill up a bowl with soapy water
Dip the end of a straw into the water
Blow smoke into the dry end of the straw to create bubbles

Always a good party trick, though :)

Reminds me of a magician I saw one time used to blow bubble with kids bubble mixture and form them into patterns and blow smoke into some of them it was cool, well when I was 7 I thought so anyway :)

i use the "original Egyptian hose", with nice ends, the small holes to inhale through dont "feel" nice but the 1st picture is the proper one, although a variation, but this is important to note!

if i happen to have my own shisha any time soon i will take a picture and upload it here

The best way to clean a hookah and the hose is to use bicarbonate of soda... warm water with a few spoon fulls of that and you get rid of the lingering smells of the previous flavours you have used :)

Also, some of the best flavours around are by Fantasia - try their Blueberry and Pink Lemonade (you have to use a phunnel bowl for these to make sure the juice stays in the top) :)
 
We have 3 in our house.

I bought mine from Turkey. I stopped smoking ciggys by using it lol. Only problem was i always used it haha. Havent used it for ages, prob why i smoke again!

Love using them, so social.
