My New wee lilttle bully boy!!

I can only imagine someone would want that kind of dog so that they appear threatening in the street. I'm probably (and hopefully) wrong about that though, but blimey, they are not pleasing on the eye at all. :p

.. but I have owned bullies for over 25 years and 90 percent of the people I meet love them...

strange.. a little bit of a nasty reception!!

Firstly that should tell you more about people, in person, people do tend to be polite. You know the way parents with ugly babies don't know it, go around showing off their kid and NO ONE tells them to their face their kid is a fugly little poo, thats called being polite and civilised.

When someone see's you with a dog, the first thing on the tip of their tongue isn't to call your dog ugly.

La internet is not such a place, honesty is often brutal when you don't have to see someones teary face when you break the bad news to them.

The majority clearly think they are ugly, as do I, I also realise negativity doesn't equate to trolling, neither does having an opinion.

Frankly I'd know the EXACT response to posting this thread is the exact response you got, as did you by your hopeful plea for people to not act exactly as they did..... thats almost trolling in and of itself... but its not.

I hope you enjoy your dog, personally not much of a dog fan, being attacked by mad dogs as a kid wasn't pleasant, I also really dislike the liking their bums clean and wanting to like your face and sniff your nads things massively.

Nice pups, I do like the breed though, mostly for their comical looks, they're like doggie clowns.

Theres one a few doors up from me, charges over to the fence when someone walks past, but when you go to give it a pat of the head, the tongue comes out and it licks the hell out of your hand. Very friendly thing.

What a vile animal. Not surprised an owner of this breed can't spell 'No-one' or 'Nobody'.

Grow up.

Im sorry for your attack, it has obviously left you scarred.

I dont really care whether people on here like the look of these dogs or not, as I said they are definately Marmite. To say that owners of these pets are generally chavs who want to appear threatening is absurd.

When I was growing up, we had a Labrador on the street and it was an absolute nightmare. As a kid running home from school, or running along kicking my ball, this dog would charge up and try to bite.. that does not mean old Flo's Lab along the road will be the same. Its irresponsible owners that ruin their dogs and they can ruin the reputation of others who own them.

I have been around a while Drunkenmaster, I know when people are being disingenuous. Some do comment on the fact that the dogs are ugly but still enjoy stroking them. My dogs are so sociable, people generally warm to them because they are so affectionate.

I used to laugh out loud when my Paddyboy, who looked like a meat head would run with his tail between his legs when the local Scottish Terrier would snap out at him... but he didnt have a mean bone in his body...

I went to meet the breeder the other night. They vetted me, they wanted to know what I done for a living. My place of work, where I lived and my experience with the breed. They also wanted to meet me so they could see what sort of man I was.

Responsible breeders care about where there dogs are going, they care because they want the best for the dog and the best for the future of the breed.

To be honest a lot of posters here have seen the dog and associated it with a type of person that they would not have the courage to confront in the street, so have turned into a keyboard warriors and have taken this oppotunity to hit out....well your hitting out at the wrong bloke....

This is not the fault of the dog. This is 100% the owner's fault. These animals should be trained to do as their owners tell them. I can tell you that if I had a dog (or any animal), I would be furious if it injured/damaged a human or animal. Unfortunately, in this country, you have a lot of dog-owners who treat their dogs as their children and don't discipline or treat them as the animals that they are. It really gets my goat when I see people allowing their animals to do as they please, with absolutely no discipline.

As an example, I have 2 very physical cats. Although they play rough with eachother, unless repeatedly harrassed by another human, they would never scratch/bite. As a comparison, my sister who has 2 cats, treats them as if they are her kids - as a result, 1 of them is extremely badly behaved, going around (deeply) scratching people who visit her house, if they stroke it.

Blame the owner, not the dog. And this applies to virtually any animal.

What a great blend between grandpa, mum & dad. I like my pretty dogs, have a golden retriever & a finnish lap hound, big fluffy things, but im a dog lover and that little fella looks great :)

I'm not really a dog person, but think some dogs are gorgeous wee things!

These however look pretty damn fugly, if you like them, more power to you, but along with bulldogs these are probably the ugliest breed of dogs I've ever seen! Hope he has a good personality! :D

Those type of dogs really do look inbred, surely nature didn't intend them to look this way?

Purely for interest's sake, check out Wikipedia for the 14 Ancient Dog breeds. They're the breeds of domesticated dog that are the fewest genetic steps from a Wolf.

It's quite interesting. Some you'd expect to be on there. Siberian Husky/Malamute/Akita etc, then others you really wouldnt like Shih Tzu, Shar Pei and Afghan Hound.

If those are the fewest genetic differences from Wolves... just goes to show how far Domesticated Dogs have been selectively bred.

The main problem with them and other dogs that are so stringently bred is that they suffer for it. In buying them you are only perpetrating animal cruelty. Rather than going out and buying a severly inbred dog - why not go rescue a mutt from the pound?
