Hi,

I just got my MSI RD4800 Crossfire mobo and Connect3d X1900XT-X gfx card.
I play cod2 and with my old gfx card(NVIDIA6800ultra) i got about 250 average settings with all AA/AF off.and when looking through smoke my fps would still stay about 150ish.BUT i have got my X1900XT-X now and i still average about 250ish but when looking through smoke my fps drops for about 70ish.this is on DX7 mode.

I have latest Catatlyst drivers and mobo drivers are all installed.I expected a lot more fps with this card and i am sure something is wrong. Also in Catalyst control panel when i goto information/hardware it says clockspeed 500hrz and memory speed 594. when i thought the card was 650 and 1550 memory.

Anyone else had problem and is there any mobo/gfx drivers i have got to install which did not come with cd.

My impressions of this card was you could run any game FULL AA/FF no problems at all.And btw i only use 1024/768 res.

Thanks for any fast replys.

Well, im just running it that to compare the fps difference with this card and my last card. And this card is performing about the same if not worse. So i know theres a problem so havnt tried DX9 yet.

You be very cpu limited at them settings a long time before the x1900xt-x runs out of steam..No point trying to compare the x1900xt-x in dx7 at low res.

i would have thought the card would have been designed around dx9 to be honest, with backwards compatiblity for dx8 & dx7... chaparrel is probably correct, cpu limited at those res.

I only play cod2 in dx9 in singleplayer. dx7 is for playing competitivly as you see a lot more ;). most ppl use it. I could run my 6800ultra full AA and full AF and still get above 100fps. With the x1900xt-x full AA/AF my fps is lower than 100fps. Something has got to be wrong.

Well. i ran it at 1280x1024 there full AA/AF on DX9 and got 25fps. :/And got about 50 on dx7. Dont think my moniter can handle these higher Resolutions as when i just changed to 1600x1200 the screen went black with a blue box saying out side range.

Ive got an 550W psu, using a 4pin to 6pin adapter. I formatted my computer when i recieved my mobo and gfx card.

why does it say in my Catalyst Control Center tho in Informarion Center/Graphics Hardware (Core Clock in Mhz = 500)? when i thought this card ran at 650Hrz.

25fps, deffo something wrong there then, my x1800 XT cuts through it maxed out in 1280x1024.

The clock speeds in the CCC are correct, thats 2d mode. :)

550w means nothing, I have a 450w PSU that is more powerful than a lot rated at 600w.

Do you know what PSU it is and are you using two 4 pin molex conenctors on the adapter?

25 frames on an X1900XTX - can't be right.

Have you uninstalled all previous drivers as mentioned above? - what about background tasks?, is your AA/AF set on maximum or too high? - Because when you say "full AA/AF" - doesn't COD2 only go to 4AA? so shouldn't you set your AA/AF in CCC to 4xaa/4xAF?

Is Refresh rate on your monitor same as the ingame one (IE: - I use 75hz)

My X850XT runs similar to that card you’re talking about (frame rate anyway). Was hoping to purchase a X1900XTX myself, but you gots' me worried man:)

:)

What frames are you getting LOM? (Constant) also maximum/minimum. when you say maxed out, is everything turned on full (EXTRA in texture settings etc)

As for DX7 - I would guess my brother who has a Radeon 9000/pentium 4 2.66 could run this decently :)

If i put all my settings in my CCC up full and try run game on DX7 i get about 40fps :/.Wouldnt want to imagine running it on DX9. I never use the ingame AA i always just use my desktop settings. My guess is i should be able to put x8 AA and x16 AF and run cod2 in DX7 no problem at all.But it runs terrible.

Funny you should say that about dx7, ive just had a quick go with fraps running, and thats what im getting, about 40 odd, and that is dx9, everything up full/extra etc... its nowhere near 25.

Thats also with V-sync on, and 60hz as im on a TFT.

EDIT: well ive just tried dx7 mode, and its sticking at 60fps, which is my refresh rate, and v-syncs on as said.

Try the ingame settings for AA, they arent the same as force AA. Try enable/disable catalyst AI.
