My new X1900XT-X(bad fps)HELP!!:(

200fsb and 2.4Ghz cpu? Could be your problem if you're running low res, being cpu bound and having a 2.4Ghz single core is bound to take an effect. The card may not scale well with slower cpu, since not many will have a £400 card and a £100 cpu (or at least an opteron).

got it all sorted now. Drivers must have not installed properly. I do not notice much of a change on dx7 but i do notice a huge difference on dx9 mode. averaging 100fps with all my CCC options up full and my cod2 settings all up full :).

Hi,

I just got my MSI RD4800 Crossfire mobo and Connect3d X1900XT-X gfx card.
I play cod2 and with my old gfx card(NVIDIA6800ultra) i got about 250 average settings with all AA/AF off.and when looking through smoke my fps would still stay about 150ish.BUT i have got my X1900XT-X now and i still average about 250ish but when looking through smoke my fps drops for about 70ish.this is on DX7 mode.

I have latest Catatlyst drivers and mobo drivers are all installed.I expected a lot more fps with this card and i am sure something is wrong. Also in Catalyst control panel when i goto information/hardware it says clockspeed 500hrz and memory speed 594. when i thought the card was 650 and 1550 memory.

Anyone else had problem and is there any mobo/gfx drivers i have got to install which did not come with cd.

My impressions of this card was you could run any game FULL AA/FF no problems at all.And btw i only use 1024/768 res.

Thanks for any fast replys.

The X1900 series are direct X 9 cards as for that matter is your previous card(6800Ultra) not sure why you feel the need to run cod2 in Dx7 mode with either card tbh, especially as you are only running 1024x768 res.

Maybe running dx7 on the Ultra if you are playing online and looking for every available frame is marginally understandable, but the X1900XT-X is a card for people who demand max frame rates with max eye candy on all of the latest games.

Crank everything up and you will begin to appreciate the power of you're new card, forget DX7 mate, you're well beyond that now.

Well tell me this.. what kind of FPS should i be getting playing cod2 full settings on dx9. For the game to be totally playable i need to be always above 100fps even with grenades and smoke going off all over *** place.

And if i crank all my CCC settings up full cod runs at very low fps on DX7 and DX9.. ive got it playable atm with all my CCC options ticked to (let application decide) and just putting my ingame up fulll.

My 3dmark06 scores are fine tho, so think its ok. My definition of playable is +100 fps tho, i know a lot of ppl say that 60fps is playable but i find its not.

If i only had someone to compare fps with that had same card/cpu.

On 1024x768 x6 AA x16 AF and all other settings up full on DX7 mode cod2 is playable on only some maps in game. and some maps i get like 50fps.

stop with the dx7.... put it on dx9. its not a dx7 card.
i have no probs with my x1800xtpe in all my games with 1680x1050 res so you SHOULD be flying ONCE you put it and leave it on DX9. try reinstalling the game if that doesnt help.

i average 100fps in dx9 with a single 7800gt in 1280x1024 (cant play at a lower res) but soon as theres smoke, bang 40-50 fps hence i use dx7 and it dont drop below 200fps in 1280x1024 with 4xAA so id say its still not set up right. but imo you cant play with fps below 100fps even tho some try ...

Found out the problem. I was wondering why my fps was ok sometimes and shocking the next. Whenever i changed something in CCC and loaded game up the fps was shocking,BUT if i minmised my game and maximised it it solved the problem of my fps. Weird eh? lol.

So from now on when i change a setting in CCC ill need to remember to do that. Not sure why tho.

Its always preferable to tick the 'application controlled check boxes' within the driver control panel and then set AF/AA and quality settings via the in game display options.

If you are applying AA and AF with both the driver CCC and in game display options then it's little wonder you're unhappy with performance, only apply AA and AF within the game display options,it's pretty much a rule of thumb mate.

Well since i solved that problem ive got x6 AA x16 AF and everything else up full in CCC and ingame options all up full and running DX9 average 100 fps :). DX7 im still way up in the high 200's. Wonder if thats a bug within cod2 or a CCC bug.
