My next headset

After 10 months of using my steel series Siberia v2 it has finally killed itself and the left ear cup has stopped working, and I am looking for my next, hopefully more durable, headset.
I use a headset for approximately 8 hours every day, and play PC games like LoL ect. I also use Skype everyday, and occasionally team speak/raidcalll (about twice a month)
After this it's mainly just watching films/ TV series online.

Previously I've had two tritton ax180, both broke but lasted about a year each, I then got a Siberia v2 which cost more so I hoped would last longer, but i was disappointed with my £70 unreliabilitiy.

Now I am looking at the Logitech G430's, but I am willing to pay more up to around £120 if there is a more durable, reliable headset on the market.

Later on this year I am also going to university to study video editing and sound design if anyone can recommend a good quality headset for that too.

Thanks

you have posted in the wrong section.

this has been answered many times already in the sound city section.

also decent headphones and a separate mic is 10 times better than a gaming headset.

as for durability I think HD25-1 II's are indestructible (any part of them can be easily replaced so technically should last forever unless a truck runs over them or something ridiculous like that), they have a strong clamping force and are closed headphones though so not the best for comfort until they are broken in.

what you may be better off doing is just buying cheap and buying often like HTF600's for £27 through flubit.

don't mistake for any second that cheap = crap, these £27 headphones have been said to be more "fun" than a pair of headphones made by sennheiser worth over £310 brand new on amazon.

they are comfortable, cheap well built, brilliant sound quality and good for gaming, should they break after a couple of years, at £27 a pop they are easily replaceable, they may sell out or be discontinued though that's why a lot of people on head fi have bought multiples of them some even as many as 5 of them as backups.

Just a heads up, the description of this forum reads "Gaming Peripherals (4 Viewing)
A section for discussion of keyboards, mice, headsets, controllers and peripherals." - if this is indeed the wrong place to post about headsets, it looks like the description ought to be updated!

i think they have put headphones discussion in the sound city description but the 2 should not be mutually exclusive because headsets are headphones with a mic built into them.

it's really simple to attach a mic to headphones these days using stuff like mod mic or v moda boom pro, etc.

or you can just simply use a clip on mic where you have the mic clipped onto the headphone wire or your t-shirt, etc.

it would be like having a separate section for discussing smart tvs and non smart tvs, as smart tvs are tvs just with a basic computer and os built into them.

I think the choice of forum is valid. Gaming headsets are gaming peripherals.

Personally, I still love my Corsair Vengeance 1500s. £70 or less usually, great build quality and do the job nicely.

Gaming headsets are absolute crap. Just an overpriced marketing gimmick aimed at the gullible and marketed by 'pro' gamers who don't actually use them... :D

Universally, you can get miles better sound quality for a much cheaper price by buying a pair of headphones and a separate mic or something like V-Modas offering.
