my only complaint with 7970...noise!!!

When did you get them?

Got them last friday mate, i used the akasa thermal tape, it was ok, but felt flimsy and 1 sink fell off so i ripped them off, used the glue on all sinks, put the acceleros back on the next day after about 10 hours of drying time. There So so good, i was a tad skeptical about them, but alas, the temps are brilliant and noise is a none issue as my apaches in my caes are louder. Proper chuffed i went with them.

My 7970's in crossfire sound like a Hoover. Shane they can't equip high end cards with some kind of liquid cooling from factory. Or something.

That's why the cooler sounds like a hoover, it's keeping your gpu very cool while Furmark tries to burn the gpu out!

Don't use Furmark, it's a torture test!

Bench your gpu with something like Heaven 3 or a game benchmark for stability.

Did you see this about the AC cooler?

'It is time to sum up a few things. Inside a closed system case Arctic Accelero Xtreme 7970 can cool a Radeon HD 7970 3 GB graphics card running at 1140/7128 MHz (1.175 V) with three fans rotating at 880 RPM and maintain its GPU temperature at 69°C, VRM temperature – at 84°C and video memory temperature – at 72°C. And most importantly, you won’t hear this cooler at all. Pretty impressive, isn’t it? This is what real extreme air-cooling for the fastest and most expensive graphics cards should look like! Arctic once again nailed it!'

Keeping it on topic, as the op lives in Greece, it will be slightly warmer than Italy, when I go on my summer hols to my family house, my laptop fan is on almost constant compared to sunny Scotland where it hardly spins.

THe 680 fan will also have to work harder than it would in the UK too, albeit it might spin a bit less than a 7970's it will still make a racket due to ambient temps.

The AC Extreme is the way to go imho.:)

;)

People, these are my choices:
1) 60€ Accelero 7970 dont like the installation procedure (have bad experience from the past)
2) change to an Asus DCII 7970 for 70€
3) change to an Asus GTX 680 for 80€

My main target is to reduce the noise under load, since I am convinced that performance is equal.
