My other hobby

Good choice with the Fusion 50.

Here's mine:

How do you like that carbon fibre battery tray? Is it worth a purchase?

EDIT: Just seen your thread on rcheliaddicts too.

Alright! I think I remember talking to you on here about this stuff before, but I can't remember your RCHA tag?

Yeah it's good mate, probably not as good as the CNC KDE mod, but that's very expensive. This CF battery tray is great; bit of a PITA to fit with the heli already built, but I'd definitely recommend it. There was just too much play in the plastic tray for my liking.

It wasn't me. EDIT: Actually, it might have been. Your nick on here looks familiar now I think on. My RCHA nick is the same as this one.

I know Laurence Gough has/had an account here. He posted a vid on here of his Logo 600 a couple of years ago. He was crazy good even then.

@Dimple

IC = Internal combustion.

Ah must have been someone else. Yeah he is really good, very modest about his skills too.

I've got a mostly assembled hobbyking 250 and trex 700 but don't bother to fly them anymore.

I prefer RC cars but as a 32 year old you look a bit daft even if the car does go 50mph+ and cost 400+ quid

When I saw the phrase "world class remote control helicopter pilot" I thought "what a loser". Then I saw the video - wow. That's awesome and I want a go :D

I flew planks a bit when I was younger which teaches you what the sticks do, but helis are a lot harder to fly. I've been flying helis that size for about 3 years now and I'm doing basic 3D etc now. I'll never be 1/10th as good as in that video though.

I used to "fly" planes on the town moor but had a few crashes due to not being able to tell which way the plane was pointing and moving the controls in the wrong direction. Those models luck fantastic - and very expensive!

No need, I just do an inverted hover and ask them to look closely :D

In case anyone's interested, here's what they can do in the hands of one of the World's best:

Whilst I can appreciate the skill involved in that, it does nothing for me :(

I love watching RC planes, copters but, being flown properly :D Each to their own obviously.

I am too scared of them, they are terrifyingly dangerous.
Most of the time I fly RC gliders, as they are really easy to control.
But I love watching the pro 3d flyers.
The worst thing about the hobby is that the clubs are full of old men.

Typical plank clubs yes, but where I fly there is only myself and about 6 others my age and not much above. We're all around the same skill level and always helping and pushing eachother.

hehe I'm glad I started this thread. If I'm honest, I'm a bit fed up of being dismissed for having a geeky hobby. They're quite obviously not toy helicopters like most incorrectly assume.

How long ago mate? Might have ran into you? I used to fly occasionally on the town moor when I was only 16 (10 years ago) when I first started RC with a twinstar.

Cool.

Where do you buy them from?

Take a look at www.fast-lad.co.uk or https://www.align-trex.co.uk/ to get an idea of costs involved.

I decided against nitro heli after using Phoenix rc sim for a while, built myself a nitro plane instead. Had a few hours flying time before I destroyed my epic model :( switch to electric but ditched it again.

Couldn't keep up with the costs, and finding somewhere to fly.

My dream would be to fly fpv on some nice low and high altitude, maybe someday
