My pc isn't performing how it should!

i had that MSI mobo with a 4400x2, 2gb of corsair mem, and a 1950xtx and i had the same problem as u mate i changed my mobo to a asus and no problems what so ever after that.

Maybe i should opt for a new mobo then, I've had many problems with it tbh, it woudnt let me change anything such as cpu fsb, woudnt let me overclock at all and if anything would alter the pc would just boot without signal, maybe someone could suggest a fairly decent socket 939 mobo.

yep exactly the same problem as me i couldnt increase FSB either and had funny boot up problems too. I have Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe Crossfire (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-131-AS) now

No, I didn't because they were both MSI boards and so when i installed new mobo there wasnt really a problem or any errors. Do you think this could be the problem? Would not reformatting had an effect on graphics ?

Personally I ALWAYS load the newest bios' unless there is an issue with it. Often, there are issues fixed in the bios even if the MOBO maker does not list the issue in the publicly released bios log. So,IMO, it certainly can't hurt to flash it.

Yep, update your BIOS.

Couple of pointers as you are a flashing virgin (oh err!):

-Make absolutely sure you have the correct bios version for your motherboard - sometimes even the same model has different revisions.
-Run everything at stock when flashing to avoid the possibility of your system crashing during the process
-Make sure you use a reliable floppy disk and not some dodgy old one that's been sat on the floor for 10 years (some utils will let you flash from windows but I'm a bit wary about that).
-Take a mental note of settings in your BIOS as these will all be reset following the flash - e.g. boot order, memory timings, devices enabled etc
-Locate your CMOS reset jumper on the motherboard in case you need to use it following the flash. Some boards will not boot straight away following a BIOS flash and you need to use this.

ABSOLUTELY! You need to do a format and clean install for sure. Migrating an OS install from one system to another, even if they use the same chipset can be disastrous in some cases.

I would suggest first flashing the bios. In addition to the good tips from HangTime, I'd suggest using a driverless boot floppy such as the ones from www.bootdisk.com

Then do the clean install. If you are concerned about time and resetting email setups, etc, use the Windows Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. It saves LOTS of time.

Alright, ive got a external hard drive so it wont take longer than a couple of hours. I havnt got a floppy disk drive only a external one.. will that still work?

As long as your bios offers the option to set the boot options to boot first from an external floppy you are fine. You have a current MOBO so you should have no problems.

Ok i decided to basically put all files i needed on a external HD and then just formatted.

I havnt installed fear yet but im getting same results on 3d mark 06: 3906. So it may have been just a waste of time :(

Any other ideas? I'll post a fear test soon.

After formatting the drive and installing XP, did you FIRST install the mobo chipset drivers, then install DX9.0c, and then install the graphics drivers?
