My phone is eating money - help

I had a 6630 on the 3 network on December 22nd and put £30 on it.
Since then I've made about 6 very quick calls to landlines and sent about 10 texts (I'm not a heavy phone user). Today I've found that all my credit has gone  It just so happens that its exactly two months since I bought it and my mate reckons I might not have read the small print that says the £30 only lasts 2 months - possible?

The other thing is that it has a Planet 3 button on it and I have browsed but not gone anywhere that says it costs to go any further.

Could my phone be buggered, or could it be talking to the internet without me knowing and if so how do i remove it?

Thanks

Most likely thing is that your £30 was classed as starter credit, which expires after 60 days....

Gotta love three....

You've answered your own question, its "3".
Whatever happens will be entirely random.

Is that just a poke at 3 or is there a solution where I can turn something off?

Must admit that Dolph's answer might be correct.

With Three, you're behind a 'walled garden' unless you pay £15 (I think) to enable you to access websites outside of Three.

I haven't accessed any websites.
I only touched the Planet 3 button once.
Can I turn it off?

Yep, You're credit has expired. 3 are not good if you are a low user PAYG.

I fully explained my needs to the salesman in Carphone Warehouse that £5 should last me all year and he never told me that I would have to keep feeding it. I can accept that I didn't read the small print (perhaps) about 60 days useage (maybe) but are you saying that if I put £10 in that even though I don't use it theres a chance it could run out? If so I'm straight back up to Carphone Warehouse.

I think I would ditch 3 , get your phone unlocked and go for another company .I use T-Mobile & Virgin on PAYG , never have any problems . You must make at least 1 call every 6 months ,[might be ,every 90 days] to validate your sim card , otherwise it gets switched off.

ps. I just read on another post ,you cannot unlock this phone yet..pity .

Its a dig at three.
I had a phone with them for a year, never again.

It looks like they use something similar to how PAYG used to be, which is basically, you have to put new credit in every month, or loose all the credit you have in the phone already.
In which case, you would have been better of with one of the £15.99 a month O2 contracts, and paying the odds over what you use.
would have got a free phone as well.

Just been on the phone to a very nice <insert country> assistant.
I told her what I expected from 3 and how I use my phone.
She confirmed that my original £30 was for 60 days and that 3 do a range of cards to suit everybody's needs including the Top-Ups which she obviously tried to sell.
I need a £10, £15 or £20 'single cash credit card' and that will not expire but I will have to make a call within 6 months to keep on the network.
Pressing the Planet 3 button will not cost me and I will be told if anything is going to cost me before I press anything.
Sounds all good to me now.

Thanks
