Well, these just arrived today.

So my weekend is gonna be spent installing my ICE. I've already ran the cables and added a couple of rolls of dynamat.

So I just emptied £70 from my account and bought these

I've only ever used fibreglass once before so I hope I don't screw it up.

Nahh, it's only around 20kg in total.

I've already shaved 10kg off with the quicksilver exhaust and another couple of kg off with the carbon airbox so it's not gonna be noticably different in weight.

Lose 8kg yourself and you'll be back where you started

Save weight to make it faster not so you can add ICE :p

It's quick enough anyway, I doubt a few kg here or there would make any difference. I promise to only drive with half a tank in if that will redeem me :D

Just have 11litres less then usual and you will be the same weight as before. :p

Or lose weight yourself, probably the cheapest way of making your car lighter. ;)

Heathen!!! I'll grab the flaming torches if someone grabs the pitch forks ;)

But seriously an ICE upgrade is a good idea, I must admit that I added a few kg to the car with a sub behind the seats but on the plus side I can hear the stereo at 110mph with the roof off (on a private track).

A quick update.

Problem #1
I had already ran the RCA into the inside of the car so I thought all I had to to was to feed them up to the head unit. Problem is that there is only 1 grommit under the dash which comes out right next to the windscreen. This meant that I had to take the dash top off to get to the RCAs which in turn meant that I had to remove the speaker panels, the stack display, the heater controls, the steering shroud etc. Basically almost all of the dash had to come off.

Problem #2
Due to the size of the Elise, the fact that I'm 6' tall and the fact that the passenger seat doesn't move I had to completely remove it in order to be able to get under the dash. This is a task in itself as Lotus found it necessary to place the bolts in the most inaccessible places. One good thing is the ability to be able to take the roof off which meant that I could lie with my head under the dash, feet sticking out of the roof :D

I've test fitted the Focals and they sound much clearer than the standard speakers. They're not as amazing as Focal comps usually are as they're only 4" but they're a damn sight better than the standard stuff.

Tomorrows task is to start the fibreglassing, wish me luck!

Don't you love the spacious Elise!

Just be pleased that you have a soft top to take off, if you had an Exige then you would have been stuffed.
