My Police Experience

You obviously have no understanding of how the police operate. They don't support victims, they are living off the instructions from their commanders. They are dry and unconcerned as they should be they have a handful of people keeping them sustained, otherwise the majority of them are just like you. Don't expect too much. It's only a "few good men(and women)" that keep this country alive.

And how would a better lock stop any decent burgular ?

If he had a different lock, they would have probably got in by using a crowbar to any double glazed windows. If that didn't work - they would have probably smashed the front door windows and opened it that way. If that didn't work - they would have probably removed a double glazed window pane.... etc etc.

Reinforced doors stops the police getting in, nevermind a few burglars. Windows on a door are a big no no for that very reason.

It seems like the Police are essentially a franchise. Kinda like CityLink.

In some places they're awesome, other places they're cack.

tbh only reason I'd report things now is because the insurance co require a crime number.
had car broken into at mums, nothing doing. know a few people who've had houses broken into who had nothing more than the number, no visit etc.
maybe it's different if you've kids as I'd expect they have a quota for that to fill.

They start coming if a particular area gets targeted. At least they did when car windows got smashed, including mine. No complains really, even when I get pulled over for random checks :)

I'd be getting an alarm installed asap, Get that porch door covered and every ground floor entry point. At least this will then give you warning if someone does enter and more than likely seeing the alarm box they won't bother anyway.

Sounds like the Police that came when I was broken into and had my car stolen this time last year. They turned up fairly quickly and were very helpful. Had a few visits throughout the day from forensics and CID. Had a couple follow up visits to help me with security and make sure I was OK and in the end they even found my car! When I got my car back I found an address in the sat nav and told the Police. They said they'd already raided about 10 houses in that area and arrested a load of people a couple weeks earlier! :D

I've since replaced all my euro cylinders with ABS Avocet locks which were recommended and also fitted top and bottom dead locks on all doors. I'm getting an alarm sorted soon too! :)
