Had to take my cat Fizz to the vet today, he wasn't his usual chipper self and wouldn't let me stroke him near his back leg. If I did he would get angry and I've got the marks to prove it now!
I decided to take the day off work to take him to see the vet. The vet had a poke around and lots of infected blood came out of what appeared to be a small puncture wound on his bag leg. The wound didn't look too bad but it was pretty gross. Fizz had to stay in for an operation and when they had examined him properly and cut away the necrotic flesh he was left with a wound about half the size the palm of my hand. He's had to have twenty stitches and flap of skin pulled across it to allow it to heal up without the stitches coming out. It isn't pretty but he does get to wear a plastic lampshade collar for a week or two so that at least makes it funny for me.
The grand total> £386.89 but he is insured so I'll get that back in a couple of weeks hopefully. Fingers crossed I'll be able to pick him up tomorrow, he was still a bit groggy when I went to see him post-op.
