My Prelude Project Thread

Love the car, except for those nasty lights.
They look like some sort of cheap Christmas decoration from Mosely Trading - I would ditch them for some OEM ones...much nicer.

I knew people would comment on the rear spoiler, which is why I've so far deliberately refrained from posting pictures of it here...

The reason being, is that it looks totally different in pictures than it does in person. Everyone who has seen both say it looks different, and most on PreludeUK at the weekend actually said it suited it - despite ridiculing someone else who had a very similar spoiler on a car that didn't have the rest of the modifications, and they are often the first to comment if they don't like something.

So, before saying anything else - wait until you see it in person (I'll try to get along to the next MM or RR) :)

Of course most of you won't, and will still comment on it, and I will openly admit it doesn't always look as good in pictures, even I've looked at some of the pictures and said to myself "hrm, that doesn't look like that in real life", and started debating it - but once I see it on the car again in front of me, I realise it's just the pictures! ;)

Oh, and as for lowering it - it only just got onto the ramp in my dad's garage, and the front lip was nearly touching the ground when it was on the brake tester at the MOT station - and I can't afford new suspension at the moment, so it'll be waiting! ;)

Lower it, and change the exaust. Looks tacky imo. Spoiler looks a tad big in the pictures, like you say different in person. Everything else looks nice :p

WOW  , that looks amazing, love the spoiler as well. Would look even better if you lowered it a bit but other than that it looks great.

Spent Saturday sorting out a few little issues and putting a few little odds and sods in.

Fitted the rear "Prelude" light, and put my GPS receiver in it too (hopefully will be a good place to pick up a good signal!), put the "4th pedal"/footrest in, a few more interior trim bits.

I also had an ABS/TCS error, which was being identified as a 4-1 - front-right wheel sensor. So, I changed this with the one from the donor, which sorted out the 4-1. I'm still however getting a 1 error from the ABS - which is the pump over-running, running for 20 seconds when starting up - could be that it needs to be bled, as it had been taken out of the car. Need the special T-piece tool to do that I thinks!

I also attempted to fit my BMC CDA, as my ebay special which I'd duck-taped to the OEM inlet pipe kept unsticking itself, and I was running without a proper air filter

Now my BMC CDA is a lot larger than others I've seen squeezed into Preludes - and I struggled to find a way to fit it previously.

However, with a rather large shoe-horn, I finally managed to squeeze it in, and connect it up!

I had to move the ABS connector bracket out of the way, and the filter is almost touching the strut brace, gearbox mount, HT leads and inner wing!

I'm quite surprised at how much difference to the noise the BMC makes - it has quietened it down a lot at idle and under little load, but it's still got a nice deep rumble under load, like the ebay-special did :) It should make it much nicer to drive on motorways now (which is ~60% of my driving anyway!). Not sure if it's made any difference to power - but it does still pull nicely, and I think it might even be smoother - even though I've not yet done a proper cold air feed

Looking really good, I actually like the spoiler too.

have to agree with the others WRT lowering though, it would make a HUGE difference to the looks, the 4x4 ride height is letting it down.

Stunning work done there, and great dedication to the job, those rear lights are pretty cool, although could get a little confusing if saw them infront of me :)

Excellent thread, makes my prelude look positivly neglected!

Cheeky question, does anyone know anything about the stock alarms on 92 Preludes?

Nice work.

Spoiler isnt to my taste (going by the pics), but nor is it garish. Lights look tacky though IMO, and agree that it needs lowering a bit.

Overall, good job though :)

I've not really done anything else mechanical to the car, it's been working OK so far (other than a little ABS issue, but it's nothing that's sortable yet!)

So, this week I've been concentrating on putting my CarPC back in.

Ohh, I see - an easy-to-get-to USB hub, in case bluetooth, touchscreen or anything else dies!

This lot isn't really anything new, but I thought I'd put it here for completeness.

Right - boot build!

I decided to do something different to what I did before.

And board reattached to boot. PC lives underneath, and sits in the spare wheel well.

PC consists of an Epox 8RGMI motherboard, AMD Athlon XP1700+ CPU, 256mb DDR, 300gb 3.5" hard drive, and an Opus 150W in-car PSU, which regulates the voltage, and provides an automated startup/shutdown controller :)

That's it so far - need to find somewhere/how to attach the hard drive, power supply, and run the cables! I also need to see how hot it gets, and as to whether and where I might need some fans!

(PS - if you want decent cordless power tools, check out the Ryobi One+ range - one battery fits all, and they do loads of different tools - drills, right-angle drill, circular saw, jigsaw, caulking gun, nail/staple gun and more - and most importantly, one battery fits any of them! I've done all of this today with a single battery in all the tools I've used!)
