My Ps3's Died

My original 60GB died a few months ago too. I managed to fix it with a hairdryer and it takes around 40-45 mins but you don't need a heat gun, nor do you need to take the PS3 apart so the warranty sticker remains intact which is the best part. When I fixed mine, I backed up it up and took it into town where a store tested it 'thoroughly' and then offered me just over £100 cash for it, which I took. They were then selling it for ~£170 with a one year warranty so the next buyer is covered.

I have since fixed two other fat PS3s with a hairdryer, they both worked but only lasted about two weeks. :o

You don't supply Sony with their reburbs do you? :D

I fixed mine with a heatgun and it worked great for about three weeks before it bit the dust again :( I tried to revive the old girl again but she was a gonner - but at least I managed to backup my console and saves etc.

If you cant revive it then you can actually login to your playstation account online and de-activate all consoles now... Sony used to let you have 5 activated but they reduced it to 2 now iirc. They will only let you do this once every six months though so only do it if you need to!
