So after a month or so of owning a PS3 and getting it running seamlessly with TVersity I wanted to take another step forward with the integration with the PSP.

I haven't quite hit the nail on the head with the setup yet but its 95% there.

Providing my PC is turned on, which it always is. My PS3 can access all of my media on my PS3 using TVersity. Which I would like to say works excellently with all of my content I have available.

Not only does it house all of my video media, it also has all of my stored music and digital photographs.

Excellent for when im sitting at home in front of my TV.

Thanks to the boffins at Sony I am now able to take my entire media library with me where ever I find an internet connection using Sony's Remote Play.

From my PSP I can access my PS3 from an external Internet Connection and access basically everything my PS3 can see over my internal network at home.

I haven't quite got it working being able to turn the PS3 on from the PSP yet (i think i need a static IP address on the PS3).

I arrived at work this morning with my PSP and my PS3 in Remote Play mode at home not ideal leaving it turned on all day but for the purpose of this exercise it proved successful.

Using my works internet connection, I was able to access my PS3 using the Remote Play mode and access everything on my PS3.

It took a little bit of messing about with my Router to be able to get this working. (Thank the boffins for logmein)

I am now able to access my entire media collection on the go, where ever I am in the World providing I have an internet connection I am able to stream Video, Music and images direct to my PSP.

There are a few options to tweak the speed of the connection. On the lowest setting of 256k which is around 30KB/s Upload speed which is standard on most connections these days right up to 1024k upload.

For me 768k was the ideal option which gave best perfomance and image quality.

Not only could I access all of my Media but I was able to play some of my PSN games on my PSP, including Crash Bandicoot and Poker :D

Well done to Sony for making all of this available to us and pushing us in the right direction of the next generation of home entertainment.

Disclaimer: I own both PS3 and 360 so im not Biased.

I don't get that bit mate.

Are you saying that you can play those titles, which are PS3 games, on your PSP similar to a RDP session?

'cos that's bloody impressive!!!

Is it true you can remotely play whatever PS1 game is in the PS3s blu-ray drive at the time?

If this is the case, i need a PSP, fast.

Thats correct!

I am sitting at work in Nottingham. My PS3 is switched on at home in Walsall.

I am able to remotely stream some of my PSN games directly to my PSP and play them wherever I am.

Also correct.

OK, let me word this differently 'cos I'm not familar with the terminology of this PSN thing.

If I went out today and bought Burnout Paradise for a PS3, I could do what you've done and play Burnout Paradise on my PSP at my office?

PSN ~ XBLA.

Nope unfortunately PS3 games wont play on the PSP :p

PSN games are like XBL Arcade titles. Stuff like Pacman and games like that.

There are PS1 titles available on the Playstation network what can be downloaded to the PS3's HDD. As far as im aware 100% of PS1 games will work on PS3 / PSP.

I think it's only PS1 games and less graphically demanding PSN games (pixeljunk monsters for example) that will work. PS3 games won't be stream able.

Ahhhh get ya.

Well that's pretty clever, and definately a very nice feature.

~J~ Kitteh iz impressed.

But I can do almost the same with my mobile phone anyway so I'm not THAT impressed!! :p

I just wish i'd wireless connection at work to do this.

How can you get it to turn your PS3 on?

I couldn't manage this even though the PSP was accessing the same router as the PS3 :(

I have managed to do it from my internal connection at home. There is an option under the System tab for Remote Play. There's an option in there to allow Remote Play to turn on the PS3.

However I have yet to achieve this from an external internet connection. At the moment my PS3 grabs it's IP address via a DHCP server (automatically) I think that I may need to give it a static IP address.

Its just going to be a case of trial and error.

Yep, i did MGS 1 and it worked!

There is latency issues on buttons etc. but once the internet gets faster it'll be excellent!

No, PS3 games as a rule don't offer remote play. I think Lair has some functionality for it though.

PSN games are what he's playing, think XBLA titles. And you can also do it with PS1 games.

Edit: Too slow I guess :p

Its an excellent feature that gets overlooked, and when play tv comes out you will be able to watch live telly and recorded shows on the move.

PSP is the ultimate accessory for the PS3, original reason I bought mine.

I bought my PS3 as an accessory for my PSP.
Hoo-yeah.

Just a quick note but doing that means your PS3 goes into standby and keeps the fan and wireless connection active. Not an issue for me as i cant hear the fan unless i stick my head next to the vents.

Its all fascinating and ive looked into this before but i keep coming back to asking myself the same questions:

1: Do i need all my media on my PS3 to be available to me on the go?
2: Its great for showing off but when would i really need/use it?
3: 8GB+ memory cards are cheap these days why not just have my favourite media on the PSP too?
4: Live Tv would be good with the upcoming decoder but my area sucks for Freeview
5: Remote play is nice but the PSP needs more of its own games rather than oldies i would soon tire of after the novelty factor wore off

Anyone else share similar feelings?
