My PSU just exploded... Advice on quiet efficient PSUs please!

I love Seasonic, for their price range they seem to have pretty high efficiency ratings, I can't hear a damn thing even with everything else shut off, modular etc.

I've never had a PSU blow on me, and I've only generally used budget brands, like Hiper and Q-Tec etc lol, I must be lucky!

I have recently bought a corsair and it is the nuts.

I will be buying corsairs from now on.

seasonic x650 or x750.

Expensive, but most efficient psu available, so doesn't produce as much heat, and the fan only spins when it's using over about 200w of power, and even then the fan only really spins very slowly.

I'm using the x750 and running a heavily overclocked i5 750, 4850 and a few drives and fans, and even when gaming the fan doesn't go above around 300rpm and is usually off so is essentially silent.

Edit: I had a corsair hx520 before this psu, and it was very loud in comparison.

I suspect the Corsairs PSU's that are made by Seasonic aren't just rebadged Seasonic's, as the heatsink in the Seasonic S-12 series are larger and have more fins then the Corsairs HX series. They would explain why my mates Corsair was louder then what I thought it would as the fan has to a spin a bit faster to remove the excess heat.

I like both the Seasonic, and the Corsair "Rebranded" PSU's. Only fault I've had with a Seasonic is a worn fan bearing which rattled and was extremely annoying. Both rate their PSU's for continuous load, so even the VX450 can easily power a pretty high end graphics card for example.

The way the new seasonics turn off their fans at low draw is great.... and as for an i7 drawing less than 200W when idle... Most i7 rigs draw less than 100w when truely idle, even with a power hungry gpu like the GTX285.
