My Q6600 temps

Hey my Q6600 is idling in the high 40s, on stock voltage, clock, heatsink and Arctic Silver 5. This can't be normal right?
I'm using CoreTemp to measure.
 
My Q6600 idles at around 33 but that's 3.0Ghz with a Thermalright Utra 120A.

Run up coretemp and check you vid and then check what vcore voltage it's sending to the CPU, you can use something like CPU-Z or even look in the BIOS.
 
My core voltage is 1.12v, whilst the core speed is 1600Mhz. I did take the heatsink off at one point without re-applying the paste, but the layer was quite fresh anyway. You think this is the problem?
 
Thanks. That pdf writes, it may take up to 200 hours to achieve full effect. So I'll wait a bit. However it also says to let the heatsink squash and spread the compound - is this a better method than manually spreading it (I wrap clinfilm on my finger and spread it) ?

I haven't had a chance to test it 100% yet, but while playing TF2 (uses about 40%) the temps reached low 60s.

Ok so using Everest to measure temps..
CPU 33 °C (91 °F)
But the individual cores are in the high 40s. This is on idle too.
So what's with the difference between the overall CPU and individual core temps?
 
My Q6600 idles at 21°C and never goes above 37°C on Prime. Thats with AC7 pro, on stock vaults and stock speed. However I do have very good air flow through my case. Akasa Mirage with two 120mm Sharkoon silent eagle 2000 rpm fans.

I can't get CoreTemp to work anymore. To make it work the first time I had to run some sort of driver and then launch the coretemp.exe. But it suddenly closed down a few hours later, and I haven't been able to open it since. Says
"The driver has failed to load!
Some information will not be available."
Yet I don't see anything.

Alright, I'm running Prime. 100% cpu utilisation and each core is hovering around 70C. Ambient detected by my CPU is 52C, although I use a 120mm Sharkoon 1000 for inflow.
I'm going to install my Noctua heatsink and fan now. Maybe replace the Sharkoon 1000 with the 2000 - although it's a bit too noisy for my taste.
For overclocking, do I simply increase the FSB and vcore a little? This is what I did to OC my AMDX2.

Woah! insanely low temps you've got there, I think even at stock mine sits in the 40's under load.

Are you getting your temps from speedfan? It lies...add 15-20'C.

No mate Core Temp, another update. I am now at 3.2Ghz (400x8) at 1.3v Prime stable for 6hrs highest temps I saw was 47c while on that configuration on load. :)

Just checking...you must be on about 0.2°C/W (assuming 20°C over ambient and 95W CPU power) which is pretty decent for quiet cooling.
