My R9 XFX Fury X review

Good video mate. So close to ordering one of these or a 390x but iv decided to wait til the air cooled fury arrives before I buy anything.

Thanks. I was never a fan of AIO coolers and always considered them to be a nuisance for fitting but very surprised at the simplicity and the one thing it does have over my TX is silence and for me, that isn't a bad thing. From what I am reading, the Fury will have around 500 less cores.

it actually seems a shame to take the stock cooler off from this graphics card, from the sounds of it the temps and noise on these AIOs are so good that it is making me feel like my custom loop is not neccessary, I wonder whether there will actually be any benefit to waterblocks in the long run with this card

I am really tempted to strip down my loop and use a AIO CPU cooler. I have 8 fans in total that are not noisy but could be better.

I have a Corsair H110i GT 280mm radiator, CPU at 4.80GHZ *4790K* never goes above 60'c in games, Usually sits around 50'c in games and around 32'c idle depending on ambient.

Still waiting for my custom Titan X backplate and my 2 x Corsair SP140mm white LED fans to appear for push pull though and the Corsair HG10 bracket as I'm going to be cooling the Titan X with a 240mm AIO i.e the Corsair H100i which will have push/pull SP120mm white LED fans as well :)

So based on your experience so far Gregster if someone were to go from a Titan X overclocked 24/7 stable at 1450/8200 to a Fury X would you slap them ? :p

Nice temps and something I will deffo consider when switching to my bench table. It would be a silly move switching from a TX but for comparisons, a good one :p

Any chance you can take a pic of the pump so we can see what variation you got?

Can you not tell from my vid pics?

Might be wrong but the Fury will have VSR which would allow 4K testing without having a 4K monitor.

No 4k option sadly on my Swift.

The pump is inside the card under the plate that has 4 allen key screws on it.

Ahhh OK and I am not opening it up bud. People were saying that a sticker on the fan signified what version was what. Mine is etched, so that should be version 2 and version 1 was just a sticker.

Great "Real persons" review. Really appreciate it and your fair and level headed comments. I am teetering on the brink of getting the Fury X with a BenQ XL2730Z and just need to wait and see what happens with driver updates and reviews of Fury, Nitro, etc....

thanks man, great natural video.
:-)

Dont know why i always thought you was a northern monkey Greg :) I also thought you was a massive fanboy aswell, thanks for proving me wrong on both counts, nice vid mate, keep it up will be watching in the future.

Was actually the sticker on the block as you can see in this:

Ahhh got ya and I didn't pay that much attention when seeing or hearing mine was silent.

I, like many of us enjoy tech and whilst I don't hide my Nvidia side, I also want to see AMD do well and have no problems running either. On being called a Northern Monkey - Outside Now!!! God forbid the thought :p

No 4k option sadly on my Swift.

VSR means the gpu will internally render the game at 4K and downscaled it once it displays on a 1080p or 1440p screen. You don't need a 4K monitor. You can then simulate how the gpu performs at 4K. The TitanX can also do the same thing, it's called DSR.

In any case, SOM has a scaling option in the menu which does the same thing, you can select 4K resolution even on a 1080P display.
