My Rally Project

Looking good Leon, I think you're going to win this one, I have exams coming up in 2 weeks time  was hoping I'd be finished by now!

I agree on the not rushing, it's a hobby not a job. Once you start working to stupid deadlines it simply isn't enjoyable anymore.

Few bits on order from Peugeot - gaskets and a water pipe - but they won't arrive until Friday, so until then I ran through an insurance quote.

YOUR HERITAGE INSURANCE ESTIMATE
£233.70
This price is broken down as: Insurance Premium with our fee included £193.70
Optional Legal Fee £15
Optional UK and European Full Recovery Breakdown £25
TOTAL PREMIUM £233.70

Not bad eh?

Lopez, have you got an MOT booked yet? I'm dangerously close to booking mine, looking to get it done within 2 weeks....

Argh I hate troubleshooting.

Tried starting it last night, just kept turning over and not firing at all. Checked for spark at coil - no.
Checked for power at coil on ignition - yes.

Swapped coil for spare, still no difference.

Dizzy lead is known to break down and fail, swapped dizzy - no difference.

Put other dizzy back and checked for spark again - no.

Tried a third coil - SPARK :D I have strong spark on all 4 cylinders and from the king lead. Excellent.

Still won't start. Fired once but that's it. Definitely getting fuel, in fact I think I've just flooded it trying to start when it wasn't sparking. Going to leave it fester for a while. I wish I had my spare injectors but they are languishing in Wales because I forgot to bring them with me (although I'm SURE I have another complete rail somewhere here...)

Aren't cars fun :p

Not flooded any more. It's now actually firing properly and having a good go at starting. Dizzy timing is not spot on along with no exhaust etc so I'm meeting some resistance :D

Took a couple more pics of progress yesterday:

Lovely new bits

After the joy of earlier, now there is pain!

The clutch release fork (which is admittedly a very poor design on the BE1 gearbox) has slipped and come away, so I have no clutch!

So tomorrow - gearbox off. Urgh.
