my rear diff mount is clonking.. should the mount be welded?

the GT4's have problems with the rear diff mount becoming worn and as such the rear diff clonks about at times.

The garage has offered to weld the mount to the car to remove the clonk. A replacement mounting plate is £60.

Is there a disadvantage of welding the mount point to the car? the people on the gt4 club seem to think itll put more stress on the drivetrain and make the rear of the car vibrate a lot...

Surely thou if its welded up and noisy i can take it back to them and give em a slap? ;)

no!

i want to weld the mount to the car

then the diff bolts onto the mount

the garage said that they get something called a "half moon bar" and weld that in.

i was asking the opinion of others as to weather it was a good idea, not a comment on the suitability of my vehicle.
