, I've had GTA3 & Vice City running fine on my oldest spec rig.Celeron 2.4 512MB DDR Geforce 3 64MB AGP (Non ti) vice city stutters slightly but in no way is it unplayable.
Although I did have to update the Gfx drivers.

Yes GTA 3 and GTA VC should be on the list aswell as UT2003, when I had a Celeron 1.2Ghz, 384mb ram and a GeForce FX5200 256mb I could lay UT2003 on fairly high settings. GTA VC was playable too aswell as GTA 3, GTA SA was abit choppy tho.
With 1GB DDR400, new mobo and a Celeron 2.8Ghx Doom3 was playable on good settings too

Right, but not every campaign for AOE2 is build and destroy style
and on the higher difficulty levels, it becomes a serious challenge to stay in the game, nevermind win.Having said that, RA2's campaigns are good fun.
Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper 2. The original is the better game, but has sprite graphics - it was written for Windows 3.1! DK2 has better graphics, but poorer gameplay.
Sacred: Diablo2 clone, but with better graphics. Most of the older RPGs and isometric hack'n'slash games run well on old hardware - I tend to use them on my lappie.

I played GTA 3 and GTA VC on an Athlon 1.2ghz, 512mb Ram and a Geforce 2 GTS (then a Radeon 9200se as a replacement) and it worked fine, not overly pretty unsurprisingly but definitely playable.
I did also play Half Life 2 briefly on the same PC and it also worked fine, low detail and at 800x600 if memory serves but it is surprising how scaleable it is.
I don't know how nicely it would play under a modern OS but System Shock 2 probably merits a mention at least for being one of the most atmospheric games that I've ever played.
MOHAA personally I would say is more defining than COD, without MOHAA there would be no COD. SP was good, a bit dull in places (as was COD in places imo) but the Omaha beach landing was every bit as tingling as Stalingrad, any one who played it and didnt think thank **** that wasnt me in 1944 isnt human imo. MP was also great ruined by poor support and no proper supported anti cheat, still very popular supported by those that play it still 6 years on. Looks great too (still).
Would also add Clive Barker's Undying though its looking a bit rough gfx wise these days, and SOF2.

not entirely sure you're right there. The Open TTd that is freely available still requires you to have the original data files. They can be obtained from the net easily but not certain as to the legality of doing so.
Votes for any of the football manager games and Dungeon Keeper 2.

Don't ramp graphics and it should be fine. Worked well on my old Duron 800Mhz with integrated GFX...
