My S8+ has just updated to Android 9 and has lost the clock screensaver

Can anyone advise please? These Samsung phones display white digits on a black background when inactive. Bit like the old Nokia 6600 phones. Since updating to Android 9, it has lost the clock, so it's just a black slate when inactive.

Google says to go into settings > security > lock screen > always on display, which is correct, but no cigar.

Any advice please? This was a valuable feature for me on the S8+.

There is just a check box when you go there right?

If you press longer on the menu option it should open up another menu with all the AOD settings.

Pie default is that you need to tap to see the AOD, change the "Displae mode" setting to "show always"
